do your working friends think your time is less valuable than theirs?  I'm finding this happening all the time - like my time doesn't matter anymore and theirs does.

I've had that happen too. Plus I have a lot of working friends say - what do you do all day?  Almost like I sit around and twiddle my thumbs.

I think it mostly comes from jealousy. I have had the same thing happened to me. What do you DO all day? Frankly, it's nobody's business what I do all day. I worked for a long time and I saved my money to be able to retire.  I can DO whatever I want.

Yes, I think so, at times. I've been asked to do things that I don't think they'd ask a "working" person, because I have "alot of free time", or I'm "not doing anything", when, actually, my days are quite full, &, while I'm not as busy as I was when I worked, I'm not as young, either!

Of course they do. That's why they ask how we fill the hours. Any way we want to. What's not to be jealous of. We wanted that before we retired, and now we have it!!! LOL They just really won't know until they get to retire.

@itsmagic - I'm really sick of that questions too.

I haven’t had that happen, at least not yet.  My friends who work are always busy so I don’t see them that often.  The people I spend the most time with are also retired.

Prior to retiring I was guilty of wondering what people did who retired.  It never came from a place of unkindness, but one of concern for myself.  I liked working and truly didn’t know what I would do if I retired.  I knew myself well enough to know retirement wouldn’t be easy for me.   I retired early, before I wanted to, so I struggled a bit before finding my way.

So, what on earth do you do all day ?  I got that same annoying question. It felt like they were insinuating that I was being a useless slug .😠

When your friends ask you what you do all day, tell them you think about how they still have to work!!!

My response to working friends that ask what do I do all day..."Whatever I want to." Simple as that.  Smiley Very Happy
