I understand, hon. Our fur babies are part of our family. It is devastating to watch them suffer, and so hard to lose them. You did the right thing though. Bo is no longer suffering. I wish I could give you a big hug.

I'm so sorry.  I haven't gone through that yet but know the day will come.

I was in my 60s when I got my first pet.  My dog is a rescue and was horribly neglected and abused for the first 2 years of his life. He was so afraid and scared, alone in that big kennel at ARL and I crawled right into it to reach him since he was hiding in the corner.  I heard his story and couldn't leave him there.  I've had him 4.5 years now and he knows he is safe and loved more than words can say.  I dread the day he is gone.

Sometimes losing a pet is worse than other losses.  When you lose someone who does not live in your house, your routine does not change as much but the pet is by your side every minute and he is part of every thing you do all day.  Also the pet makes you smile and get out of bed on days there might not otherwise be a reason to.  I understand totally.

Re: PEOPLE WONT UNDERSTAND

@hsawaknow. I understand how you feel. I get it completely. Only someone who’s been there can understand. I know your heart feels heavy and you cry every time you see a place in your house where Bo enjoyed lying his head, etc. Just take your time and cry it out. Grieve. Bo deserves that after so many years of giving unconditional love. Know that he’s no longer in pain and you gave him the most precious gift of your love by freeing him from that.

@hsawaknowI have a kitty kat that I feel the same way about.  He is 15 years old and starting to fail.   He helped me through a mild depression that I suffered from and I will feel just like you do when he is gone!  God bless you!

@hsawaknow

I do understand and so do many, many others.

i’m glad you could come here and share with those who do “get this.”

We are so blessed as humans that we can know unconditional love and comfort.  Maybe they were given to the human race so we would know these things.💗

@hsawaknow  I'm so very sorry for your loss.  It's always hard to lose such a beloved pet.  I understand what you're going through and have been there many times.  Give yourself time to grieve.  Some people do understand, but it does feel like a lot of people don't.

I am 56 yrs old and yes I understand.  I have had many dogs, cats, calves, goats fish and even a turtle.  I was an only child and grew up with my animals.  My dad died when I was 13 and I received a schnauzer for xmas that slept with me every day.  He is buried in my back yard and i still miss him!  He was like a little brother, if we went on vacation , he went, he was a constant.  YES  I feel your pain but in time you will want to have another bestie by your side.  For now let your heart heal and time will help!!!!!!! God loves all creatures great and small so he is being well taken care of until you meet again!!!!

Thank you all for kind words and heartfelt wishes. I have been crying a lot and trying to keep busy. When I think how he was just fine on Friday only to wake up in sheer pain on Saturday and by Sunday not being able to move I realize I am in some sort of shock. I just cant believe it. He was the second labador i owned and they are just the best dogs. We had a mut and she was the best dog, I guess what Im saying, is All dogs are the best!

I know in time this sorrow will end, and only happy memories will exist of Bo. But for now its just pain and emptiness. My cats are wandering around the house looking for him which is torture because they dont understand and they were friends.

All your messages comforted me and made me feel not alone and that you all cared and understood my deepest pain. Thank you all and big {{{HUGS}}} back at you!
