These conversations are hard because two people were brutally murdered.

So, you need a deeper understanding of abuse and how it changes the brain. Their behavior during and after is not shocking.

The brothers in all probability were emotionally arrested at a young age. That is what happens with trauma.

If a child's sense of safety is shattered, they see the world as a dangerous place. This hypervigilance can lead to reactive aggression in response to perceived threats, even when none exists. So, they might have believed their father would kill them. Their mother did not protect them, and according to Lyle abused him as well.

Another factor is they are male. There is a stigma, so male victims do not talk about or report the crime.

It is not unusual they did not report the abuse to a therapist.

This couple raised two bombs, and unfortunately, they went off. I believe they were abused. I watched them testify. I listened to what they said. It is a very sad complex situation.

@. I agree about the abuse, and the effect of abuse.   The fact is they did manage to make a plan, and together carried it out.  With not much remorse.  They lied, blamed it on others, and willfully led police on wrong turns. Unfortunately the law doesn't always give passes in murder cases for all of the traumas you described . They go by the law, not sympathy.  If the law did take sympathy into accord, we would have to let most of the people who commit murder go, or reduce penalty .  They have had years to change, as basically  at least Eric that I know of still is very entitled , and still excuses a lot, and doesn't take responsibility for it. I agree some of this, even a bit of narcissistic traits  hold them back from doing some things.  I think they don't truely deserve parole now.   There are people who deserve more than they do for sure. Many of the prisoners in jail now have changed after years of incarceration.  But most of that is due to lack of freedom. They are doing what they are told because of incarceration.  They don't have to deal with money issues, relationships, holding a Steady job, and being a member of society.  I guess all in all I agree with your statements. I just don't think these two deserve parole at this time.

Two premeditated murders then calculated twisted behavior returned from outside reloading to blow their mother's brains out. In prison continued with criminal violations over and over no remorse. They should sit in prison until they both die.

@shoekitty, courts take circumstances into consideration when it comes to sentencing. It seems the court rejected their unsubstantiated claims of abuse. I agree with the court's decision.

The fact that these two were old enough to leave home and the fact that they didn't care enough to  even "earn" their

parole tells me all I need to know.

in 3 years they can have another hearing. I am sure as we post here their lawyer is busy preparing,(if he hasn't already) an appeal to Gov. Newsom. But I soon think Newsom woukd parole them, especially as political aspirations are in his mind I am sure. They can leave it to next Govenor
