I am moving next month  Smiley Happy So excited and wondering if you all can give me some tips to make it a smooth transition!

I am just moving in my town, Not out of state.

I am feeling happy but also overwhelmed with all that will need done and things on my mind.

Pack all of your stuff in boxes and make sure you mark what room the boxes go in and what is in the boxes. Wrap all fragile things really well. You will be so happy you did it in the long run when you start unpacking on the other end.

Good luck on your move and remember to let the post office know your change of address.

Start packing sooner than you think you need to.  I thought I was almost done, but had another closet or two when the moving van showed up.  It look longer and I needed more boxes than I thought.  Good luck and I hope you enjoy your new home.

Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else. Margaret Mead

If you have children - pack their stuff last and unpack it first.  We moved when our son was four.  He was so worried but this was so helpful to him.  I made sure he helped pack the everyday stuff from his old room and unpack it in his new room.

Enjoy your new place!

Luggage is a good place to pack breakables or for other things also!  Shoe boxes are great for bathroom drawer items.  Moving can be exciting.   Good luck in your new home!Woman Wink

Label your boxes by room. Get rid of things you haven't looked/used in while. If you don't use cookbooks or read hard cover books donate them.

A good time to clean out closets and get rid of things you no longer wear/doesn't fit, etc.

Will your new place accomodate all of your furniture/area rugs? If not donate before your move. That goes for any other furniture you aren't using as well.

Good Luck

If you have access to your new home before you vacate your present home, start to bring over small things in advance like pictures off your walls, kitchen items,  towels, sheets, blankets etc.

What I did not know when I moved was that the boxes I packed where "addressed" differently on the sheet than the boxes the moving company packed.  Knowing now, what I would do is work side by side the man that is putting numbers on the boxes and putting on inventory sheet.  Being more specific how things are numbered and written down.  Those little stickers that they put on fall off.  Have some kind of tape to make them more secure.  DO NOT sign off on your inventory list until everything is accounted for.  Be there beside truck as taking things off of it and YOU check it off.
