This place is not newbie-friendly nor is it a place to comfortably post your thoughts w/o being attacked no matter what you say. I can see why people have left or cut their time spent here considerably, eventually disappearing altogether. If you've been here a long time then you know how to tread water.

There are some posters who like to criticize other posters. They cannot disagree with another poster without making it a character flaw. It doesn't matter how diplomatically people make a comment regarding hosts, public figures, etc. some will think that it is negative and will criticize the poster making the comment.

I agree that it seems some old friends (long time posters) don't post much anymore. There are some in here that will pulverize you if you disagree with them. Some just like to be contrary.....for what ever reason. There are times I wanted to post questions, but then didn't want to elicit the snarky remarks. It's too bad because there are some absolutely amazing and delightful ladies on here.

I began my journey posting on QVC when I first got a computer 40 years ago and saw that it existed. I loved watching THE q on tv with Kathy Levin, Mary Beth Row, Judy, and several others that I enjoyed watching. it WAS ALL JUST SO NEW AND EXCITING to visit with folks this way. The first mistake I made was just starting a thread one day asking about a herringbone necklace that Mary Beth was showing. I figured that was what this place was for. Talking about products. Then I was bombed with questions and mean remarks. Why didn't I first introduce myself? No common courtesy, They never saw me before who was I? Someone else questioned my name which has always been Cody, I reminded them of someone else that was coming back with a new name. On and on. I am embarrassed to admit that I turned off my computer in tears more than once. Fortunately, I began to learn the rules and facing that fact Some folks were just downright mean. And all these years later I can say that my brains finally grew in, and I haven't cried about this board in decades, lol. Some things you just have to let go. I find that the wide majority of folks here are smart, nice, funny and interesting and I just try to let the others go. I don't always succeed.

I would really miss this place if it was to go.

And to those that will not read my huge, long paragraph above, I get it. I just can't get paragraphs here. Many have tried to help me, and it never works. It irritates me that I can't figure it out.

I remember trying to be funny when I was first posting. I had trouble remembering people's long nics and we didn't have the automatic @ function that we do now so I suggested a new rule that nics could only be two syllables 🥹

The place exploded with scorn for me 😜 I still remember a few posters that figured out I was joking and came to my defense.
