A few years ago when my father was in the hospital, his neighbor, whom I knew him to be close to, would text me and ask how he was doing. When I would text back and the news mignt not have been too good, he would text back to me and always ended his texts with LOL. When I mentioned it to my sister, she suggested an alternate meaning for it which would make more sense for the situation, so I assume that was it.
LOL = Lot's of love.

Yes, a family member thought that LOL meant "lots of love" and was mortified, when she found out it didn't.
I figured it was an easy mistake to make! ![]()

What is the issue about "sides of town"? Have to know more.

I wouldn't over think it. Her words said she can do it so I wouldn't think about the emoji
. I don't understand many of them either.

She sounds very condescending to me.
An old friend of mine came with DH and me one Sunday down to the Jersey Shore. DH likes to fish and went onto the fishing pier, and we were right next to the pier out on the beach. It happens to be a free beach, and there are lovely trees to sit under, in case it gets too hot, along with a boardwalk.
We were both working long hours and it was fun to run to this close spot on the weekends to relax.
My friend apparently didn't feel the same, she said, 'Well you certainly don't ask for much in life, do you?'
I wanted to say that no, it's not Malibu beach, but I didn't bother responding. I also realized that she felt this was beneath her, or something along those lines, and didn't see her much after that.
Sometimes one comment tells you all you need to know. ![]()

You are reading to much into it. She said she can do it. Just pick a restaurant you want to go to and let your friend know what date and time. Dont make more of it than it is.
@Travone - I'm going with the same answer above. Pick a location on your side and text her with the details.

Don't overthink it. She could have hit the emoji by accident. Plan the lunch on your side of town and say nothing about her comment and emoji. If she starts something at lunch then you'll know where you really stand with her and you'll need to decide what you're willing to tolerate going forward, or not.
