Re: How to deal with a friend issue

@haddon9

I would say that since she has done this at least twice after you asked for a referral, that I would simply not ask her for any more referrals.  Ask another friend or family member instead.  This way, she will not know that you are going to a new doctor and you will not have to deal with her somewhat intrusive behavior.

Good grief. Let it go.

While you weren't obligated to call her right away, you could have responded better too.

Re: How to deal with a friend issue

Am amazed how many share  health problems on these boards.

As far as your friend,  you can limit your response to simply,  thank you for the referral and  I appreciate  that it worked out .

Next time, ask your primary care or another friend for a referral.

Re: How to deal with a friend issue

@skatting44  I didn't ask for a referral from her. She saw that I had an issue with my foot since I was limping and insisted that I try her doctor.

In the future I plan on thanking her for her suggestion and getting referrals from other sources.

Re: How to deal with a friend issue

@haddon9   Well, although she seems "clingy" to me, she's also a concerned friend w/ new doc information when you ask.

Maybe you just need to let her know that you appreciate all her great recommendations, but didn't know she expected a report back and have never had a friend who expected one.

If she's a good friend that you want to keep, find another to ask about docs so the situation doesn't get tangled and confused.

Re: How to deal with a friend issue

@Shanus I did send a text letting her know that I appreciate her concern and help. I did say that I didn't realize that I was supposed to report back but that was the wrong thing to say and it made her angry.....I texted back and apologized this morning for upsetting her yesterday.

I mentioned that I need time to unwind when I get home from a doctor's visit.

In the future I'm going to limit talking about health issues with her.

@haddon9   That's the way I'd handle it, too. BTW, how's your foot?

Re: How to deal with a friend issue

We know our friends as you know this one.

How hard would it have been to send her a quick text telling her that the doctor was great, thank her for her recommendation and  that  you'll talk later when you have more time?
