I live in Western Wa state and  this time of the year is cold and rainy and very grey, sometimes for days on end. I get very depressed at the greyness. Been in this state for 59 years now.  I do have SAD and bought a "happy" light that I set up on my computer table that I sit at for about 2 hours a day. It has to shine in your eyes for it to work. Not directly in your eyes but I tilt mine up at the side of my monitor. Been doing this for the last 2 years and can honestly say that it has worked for me. Even my stripey cat, sits there with me enjoying the light. This is not a quick fix however; prob will take a good few months and it is a gradual fix. But better than drugs as I can't take any of them. You can get a light at costco for around $40. Can also buy just the bulb itself.

I prefer it stay lighter longer. I feel trapped inside this time of year when it gets dark at five. It is too dark to do anything outside and I usually can't find much to watch on tv. The only thing it does for me is to make the holidays more holidayish haha!

Oh I prefer the Summer months of warmth and daylight that seems to last forever! But when I settle in for the long, hard Winter I actually like it getting dark starting at 5pm. I light my fireplace, curl up and enjoy life. Woman Happy

I love it. It is real time, not manufactured by man. Bright sun and heat truly hurt my eyes, headaches, etc. I love the feeling of a slower pace and the less frantic tone of the cool months. I know I am kinda strange about this. I also love rain and snow....

I feel the same way!!
