@Posh Poodle ..Thank you ! and to the others who poo-poo'ed me for not putting the items back - there are several reasons why ''I don't get out much'' as stated in the original post..so putting the items back would have been hard for me, being in the store in the first place was hard for me . And I know the attendant should have helped me to check my items out - but she never offered, just walked on off. So good people, sometimes you don't know the whole story . Thank you for your replies. And by the way - I'd still do the same thing again ...but luckily for me, I'm never going back in there again.
@sarahpanda Hold it- you said you asked the attendant if there is just self checkout available and proceeded to let her/him know your displeasure. Then you left your cart and walked away. Now you are saying the attendant just walked off.
It appears you didn't even ask for help. As soon as you announced your dislike, left the cart and walked away it was game over.
Now you don't have your groceries, you wasted time and probably gas, and had to start all over again elsewhere. If you could shop all over again then your excuse that it would have been too hard to replace the original items does not make sense.
It would have been better to ask for assistance and decide not to return again in the future.
FYI my DH cannot even ride and wait in our car anymore while I shop with a cane so do not accuse me of not being sympathetic. I am.
I just find you made a mountain out of nothing and in the end caused your own problem.
And I agree leaving the cart was wrong.
