Re: For Those Living In California...

News to me.  Tip jars all over the place, even when they don't really wait on you.

In fthe 60's, 70's, when I worked in an Italian restaurant with a seven course meal, we worked our butts off for a good tip.

Good service, good tips.

A lot of people can't do, or don't want to do math.  The tipping scale is for those that want a "comfortable way out".

I live in San Diego and yes, tipping here.  Every food place you go you get asked about tipping.  It's more than alive and well.

@Sunshine Kate

I notice on NPR radio there's a lot of talk generally about increasing the minimum wage for servers nationwide, but tipping is alive and well in Southern California.

Not true.  Tipping happens in CA.

IMO, tipping should just go away, it's gotten too out of control.

Tipping is on where we are here.  ALSO, there's a Harbor fee if you eat at a restaurant/eatery near the marinas/docks, beach.  It get added to your bill.

In Europe, I travel to France often, the tariffs for food orders the tip is included in the price, not separate.
You're free to leave a bit extra, perhaps a few cents or a euro.

Restaurant help are paid a living wage, no need to tip or is it expected.

I wish restaurant workers in the US were paid a living wage.
