The suggestion was a hysteroscopy which is a biopsy. Like others, I feel there's another medical reason behind daughters behavior. It's more complicated than menopause.

@Love my grandkids - @JeanLouiseFinch did not recommend someone have a hysterectomy.
She said hysteroscopy which is a diagnostic test to rule out cancer. And believe me, I know what I'm talking about. If the test shows cancer, then normally a hysterectomy would be the next step.
Also, to the OP, the pap smear could just be done as routine, but also to rule out cervical cancer. This test usually stops after age 65.

@Love my grandkids wrote:@JeanLouiseFinch Fascinating that you who are likely not a doctor is advising someone to have a hysterectomy asap. That's hilarious and way out of line.
I didn't suggest anything if the kind! You are the one who is out of line making false accusations. Why don't you try looking up HYSTEROSCOPYbefore looking so foolish? Bleeding in the mid 50's and beyond is abnormal. That was my situation and through the test it was detected that I had precancerous cells. Thankfully a hysterectomy ultimately happened for me but that's not an automatic conclusion if it isn't necessary.

We had a very nice day and all was well. My son n law pulled me to the side and told me the Dr. feels with what results he has now its late stage menopause. which is very common unlike what many think on this forum. she started menopause mid fifties. Brace yourself as you can have menopausel into your eighties.it has to with hormonal levels. so much has changed with the knowledge that they have now compared to when I had my hysterectomy in my late forties. Thanks again for your concern for me Im so grateful.

I am glad you had a nice Thanksgiving.
Hopefully there will be some meds to help your daughter thru her issues.
I remember when I went thru menopause in my early 50's --I said a couple of unkind things to my husband. I felt just awful, that is not my personality at all!
Thank goodness I had no hot flashes or needed meds, menopause was short lived for me.
take care.

Sadly, every word you wrote is true.Unfortunately, this is not an uncommon situation. But, yes, we must go on.

I started menopause at the age of 48 and it was so terrible I thought I'd die, and wished I would.

Being hormonal is no excuse to talk to your mother that way. My two sisters were very mean to my mother. I never spoke up and I should have however I don't think it would have made a difference. Family dynamics. Feeling Sad never mentioned if they've had a love/hate relationship but maybe that is the problem. They both need to apologize!
