@hayseed00  @homedecor1 posted those beautiful photos of the Pileated Woodpeckers.  I have them in my yard but did not post the photos... They are as beautiful as her photos and a very large woodpecker!

Thank you for posting about the raccoon guard.  I've never heard of them but will look them up.

I've got to find something to deter the theft of the suet feeders & food in the bird feeders.

I have a large feeder pole with the same type guard (purchased from Duncraft), also works for squirrels.....my raccoons gave up long time ago, squirrels keep trying.  I also placed it far enough from a tree so squirrels cannot jump to the feeder.  I have had more trouble this past winter with the "rack" deer poking at my bird feeders.  I had to take down 4 single feeders because of deer damage, they knocked them out of my trees, ate the seed and damaged the feeders.  I removed them and solved the problem. Unfortunately the birds have less feeders for fueling their needs.  Deer do not bother the feeders on the pole with the guard, too high for them to reach.

@NickNack

Thank you, I will heed your advice.

PS:  the squirrels get over their squirrel guards also so it's not really effective for them either.
