I think they had less confidence and less control than the starsof today. The studios owned them and they were certainly not allowed to be the size of the average woman. They had to keep their weight down and they used amphetimes, cigarettes, starvation diets to do it. Certainly you know about Judy Garland. They also had the threat of losing their contracts if they gained weight. Today's stars and celebrities keep slim and shapely in healthier ways. They have nutrionists, exercise physiologists, plastic surgeons who ****** this and tuck that. Yes, I do love carbs. I don't eat many carbs because it would take much for me to gain 50lbs. That's how my body works. I do have an occasional treat on the weekends and over the holidays but generally I avoid simply carbs. Meaning the breads, pasta, crackers, rolls, cookies, cakes. The bad carbs. Fruits and vegetables are carbs too, healthy ones and I eat as much of those as I want.
