@shoesnbags   No, not a typo.  I went back and checked it out.  The article was written in Oct. of 1999.  I didn't catch that.  It was from the New York Post.

Oh, well I guess we can assume it didn't catch on!

No, I don't. Never needed one.

No, I live in one of the safest areas of the country, by choice.  That was just a plus of our area, not the reason we picked it.

I was just reading on line about a personal alarm that clips on a handbag strap, you just put your finger through it and pull the ring!

Even if I'm out of it, I think I could pull a ring!

All of us are in stores and out.  Enough said!

Many on amazon with 4 1/2 stars!

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?  I think I'm stupid.

CCW? Concealed Carry Weapon and CCWSAFE is Concealed Carry Weapon Insurance.

You must be CCW to get this insurance.

@Malcontent @ THANK YOU for providiing me the acronym "spell outs!"   Now I understand & am sorta "up-to-speed."

I'm glad you settled in to USA,

Welcome to you, and joy to you & yr family!

Never heard those acronyms or Concealed Carry Insurance.  I've heard of Concealed Carry Permits, but not an insurance for it.

I carry pepper spray on my keyring and it has a dye in it, so if I spray someone, they're going to have dye on them.  I do have a Concealed Carry permit, although I'm not carrying right now as I don't have a gun small enough.

I have thought about the one they used to sell on HSN which wasn't so much of an alarm, but it called 911.  You would want to carry it on your person rather than a purse IMO although they mentioned putting it on a backpack for children.  That way, if I was ever grabbed and put in the trunk of a car, I could call 911 and talk to them.  An alarm would probably scare me as much as my attacker. I haven't seen it presented in awhile, so they may not have it anymore.  It did not have a monthly charge.  The only charge was the device itself.
