Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Hello my friends!  Hope your day is going great!! Remember to count your blessings!  Praising and  Thanking our God for another ordinary day, which are wonderful!! Sun shiny day, temps up to -3!   Tonights supper was easy, I thawed some ground turkey that I browned with all the ingredients some time before and just made a nice, veggie dish out of it along with sweet potatoes. Good and nutritious and easy!

As we help those in need or comfort those in trouble, God's great love and divine

glory is revealed to the world.  Lord, I am Your servant.  May others know more

of You through me.

"Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a
wise man who built his house on rock.  The rain fell, the floods came, and
the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had
been founded on rock."  ~Matthew 7:24-25

Every strong and beautiful flower must have a strong root in the ground. It
can send a root down so that it may be rooted and grounded while at the same
time it sends a shoot up to be the flower that gladdens the world.  Both
growths are necessary.  Without a strong root, it would soon wither.  The
higher the growth upward, the deeper must be the rooting.  My life cannot
flower into success and helpfulness unless it is rooted in a strong faith. I
can feel deeply secure in the goodness and purpose of the universe.

I pray that my life may be deeply rooted in faith.  I pray that I may feel
deeply secure.

Prayer for Vocations

Hail Mary, full of grace,
all generations call you blessed.

Hail Mother of God, when asked by the angel
to bear the Son of the Most High,
filled with faith, you responded:
"Let it be done unto me."

Holy Mother of Jesus, at the wedding feast of Cana,
you prompted your Son to perform his first sign.

Be with us as we discern our Life's work
and guide us in the way we are called to follow
in the footsteps of your Son.

Holy Mother of the Savior, at the foot of the cross
you mourned the death of your only Son.

Bless and embrace the loving parents of all priests,
deacons, brothers, and sisters.

Holy Mother of the Good Shepherd.
turn your motherly care to this nation.

Intercede for us to the Lord of the harvest
to send more laborers to the harvest
in this land dedicated to your honor.

Queen of Peace, Mirror of Justice, Health of the Sick,
inspire vocations to the priesthood in our time.

Let the word of your Son be made flesh anew
in the lives of persons eager to proclaim
the good news of everlasting life.

AMEN

God's Boxes

I have in my hands two boxes,Which God gave me to hold. He said, "Put all your sorrows in the black box,And all your joys in the gold."

I heeded His words, and in the two boxes, Both my joys and sorrows I stored, But though the gold became heavier each day, The black was as light as before. With curiosity,

I opened the black,I wanted to find out why,And I saw, in the base of the box, a hole,Which my sorrows had fallen out by.

I showed the hole to God, and mused, "I wonder where my sorrows could be!" He smiled a gentle smile and said,

"My child, they're all here with me..I asked God, why He gave me the boxes, Why the gold and the black with the hole? "My child, the gold is for you to count your blessings,The black is for you to let go."

We should consider all of our friends a blessing.

Too Often

Too often we don't realize
what we have until it is gone

Too often we wait too late to say
"I'm sorry - I was wrong."

Sometimes it seems we hurt the ones
we hold dearest to our hearts

And we allow foolish things
to tear our lives apart.

Far too many times we let
unimportant things into our minds

And then it's usually too late
to see what made us blind.

So be sure that you let people know
how much they mean to you.

Take that time to say the words
before your time is through.

Be sure that you appreciate
everything you've got

And be thankful for the little things
in Life that mean a lot.

Growing old surrounded by those we love
is a privilege denied to many
Never leave behind regrets.

This dense, fruity cake calls for ingredients by way of scriptural references. Ingredients are grouped for ease of method explanation.

SCRIPTURE CAKE

Makes 8 to 10 servings

Part 1

3/4 cup (180 ml) Psalms 55:21

1 cup (250 ml) Jeremiah 6:20

3 Jeremiah 17:11

1/4 cup (60 ml) Judges 4:19

1 tbsp (15 ml) I Samuel 14:25

Part 2

2 1/4 cups (560 ml.) Leviticus 6:15

1/4 tsp (1 ml) Leviticus 2:13

1 tbsp (15 ml) Amos 4:5

1 tsp (5 ml) II Chronicles 9:9

Part 3

1 cup (250 ml) I Samuel 30:12

1 cup (250 ml) Numbers 13:23

1/2 cup (125 ml) Numbers 17:8

Heat the oven to 350 F (180 C). Lightly coat 4 mini loaf pans with baking spray (a blend of oil and flour).

PART 1:

In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the first ingredient until light and creamy. Add the second ingredient and beat until fluffy, about 2 minutes, scraping down the sides of the bowl after the first minute.

One at a time, add the third ingredient, beating well after each addition. Mix in the fourth and fifth ingredients. Set aside.

PART 2:

In a large mesh strainer or flour sifter, combine the ingredients listed in Part 2. Sift the ingredients together onto a sheet of parchment paper or into a bowl. Reserve 1/4 cup (60 ml) of the mixture.

With the mixer on low, add half of the remaining Part 2 mixture to Part 1. Mix only until thoroughly blended, scraping the sides of the bowl as needed. Add the remaining Part 2 mixture and mix until blended to create the batter.

PART 3:

In a medium bowl, combine the Part 3 ingredients. Add the reserved Part 2 mixture and toss to lightly coat. Add this mixture to the batter and use a silicone spatula to gently fold it in.

Transfer the batter to the prepared cake pans, filling them three - quarters full.

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted at the center comes out clean. Cool on a rack for 15 minutes, then remove the cakes from the pans and cool completely before serving. If desired, dust with powdered sugar.

January 12 - Jesus Calling

Let Me prepare you for the day that stretches out before you. I know exactly what this day will contain, whereas you have only vague ideas about it. You would like to see a map, showing all the twists and turns of your journey. You’d feel more prepared if you could somehow visualize what is on the road ahead. However, there is a better way to be prepared for whatever you will encounter today: Spend quality time with Me.

I will not show you what is on the road ahead, but I will thoroughly equip you for the journey. My living Presence is your Companion each step of the way. Stay in continual communication with Me, whispering My Name whenever you need to redirect your thoughts. Thus, you can walk through this day with your focus on Me. My abiding Presence is the best road map available.

The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
—Exodus 33:14

“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.”

Gloria you make me hungry. LOL.

It is very cold here.

And it is snowing right now.

Blessings to all.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

It's starting to warm up a bit here.

I saw this on Facebook and wanted to share it with you all:

Self-Talk

by Katrina Fox

Words matter -- not just the words we express to others, but also how we speak to ourselves. Recently while I was shopping I heard a voice behind me say, "Boy, you are stupid!" I turned around, and a woman said to me, "I'm not talking to you. I was saying that to myself." As she continued on with her shopping cart I wondered what had prompted her to speak such belittling words to herself. After all, don't we find enough criticism from others, even at times undeserved negative judgments from family or friends?

After this incident while listening to Relevant Radio I heard a guest on Morning Air mention how Satan wants us to see ourselves as damaged goods. He added that we need to believe in the power of the love and mercy of God to recreate us. A suggestion was made to allow the sacrament of reconciliation to help us discover new life and bring peace into our hearts.

I agree with that suggestion of accepting the mercy of God. In addition, I heard that one of the ways people who have low self-esteem seek healing is by practicing daily positive affirmations.

Some ideas for such self-affirming statements that I thought of would be:

1. God loves me, so I am free to love myself.
2. I do not have to earn love. I'm lovable because God created me.
3. I will find joy by surrendering to God's will in the present moment.
4. I will feed my soul by nurturing someone who needs my time and attention.
5. I don't need to worry today because God will care for me in all circumstances.
6. I trust God to bring peace to my heart and show me how to share that peace with others.
7. I do not have to be perfect to be lovable, only faithful to God's plan for my life.
8. God, who is my Light and Salvation, will shine His light in my soul today.

Finally, as I ponder the generosity of God to love us enough to suffer and die on a cross for us, I'm convinced that we can find great peace and new life by thanking God each day for this sacrificial act. Although the ideal way to do this is by attending Mass and receiving the Eucharist, it can also be done by just lifting one's mind and heart in prayer throughout one's day. Giving thanks frequently to God can't help but lead to a greater gratitude for one's own life and deeper self-love.

1 Thessalonians 5:18
give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
