Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Hello my friends!  Here's hoping you're having a wonderful Tuesday!  My blessings today is that Shurri, my cleaning lady came, and the whole place smells wonderful!  She is a blessing, since I cannot get down on my hands and knees anymore, she can. She does a thorough job for two hours once a month. Another blessing we're taking Linda and Gordy out for the chicken fry tonight - their favorite place on Tuesday nights, buffet style.  Haven't seen Linda for awhile as she hasn't been feeling well.  Those chemo pills are hard on her, and she's continually on oxygen.  Please do remember her in your prayers, She needs some kind of surgery first before she can go on dialysis.

Thanks for all your prayers - praying for you all, too.

If your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light: but if it is not healthy, your body is full of darkness.  Luke 11:34

Meditation for the day:

"If your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light; but if it is not healthy, your body is full of darkness." The eye of the soul is the will.  If our will is to do the will of God, to serve God with our lives, to serve God by helping others, then truly shall our whole body be full of light.  The important thing is to strive that our will be attuned to the will of God, a single eye to God's purpose, desiring nothing less than that God's purposes be fulfilled.  We can try to seek in all things the advance of God's kingdom, seek the spiritual values of honesty and purity, unselfishness and love, and earnestly desire spiritual growth. Then our life will emerge from the darkness of futility into the light of victory.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that my eye may be healthy. I pray that my life may be lived in the light of the best that I know.

PRAYER FOR THE SEVEN GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Saint Bonaventure

WE BEG the all-merciful Father through thee, his only-begotten Son made man for our sake, crucified and glorified for us, to send upon us from his treasure-house the Spirit of sevenfold grace, who rested upon thee in all his fullness:

the spirit of wisdom, enabling us to relish the fruit of the tree of life, which is indeed thyself;

the gift of understanding: to enlighten our perceptions;

the gift of prudence, enabling us to follow in thy footsteps;

the gift of strength: to withstand our adversary’s onslaught;

the gift of knowledge: to distinguish good from evil by the light of thy holy teaching;

the gift of piety: to clothe ourselves with charity and mercy;

the gift of fear: to withdraw from all ill-doing and live quietly in awe of thy eternal majesty.

These are the things for which petition. Grant them for the honor of thy holy name, to which, with the Father and the Holy Ghost, be all honor and glory, thanksgiving, renown, and lordship for ever and ever. Amen.

PRAYER FOR HEALTH & HEALING

Dear Jesus, You who have seen the suffering of All humankind, and who suffered the indignities and pain of a cruel crucifixion, have mercy on me. Help me, for the greater glory of Your Father in Heaven, to recover from my distress.  Give my doctors the wisdom to use the resources within their power to heal me, and comfort my family in their empathy for me.

Restore me to health, dear Lord, so that I may honor You in all I say and do. I ask this in Your name, my Lord and savior, and Your humble servant, St. Anthony of Padua, The Miracle Worker.  AMEN.

Dear Lord,

Even though I clutch my blanket and growl when the alarm rings,
thank you, Lord, that I can hear.  There are many that are deaf.

Even though I keep my eyes closed against the morning light as long as possible,
thank you, Lord, that I can see.  Many are blind.

Even though I huddle in my bed and put off rising,
thank you, Lord, that I have the strength to rise.  There are many that are bedridden.

Even though the first hour of my day is hectic, when socks are lost, toast is burned and tempers are short, my family are so loud,
thank you, Lord, for my family.  There are many that are lonely.

Even though our breakfast table never looks like the pictures in magazines and the menu is at times unbalanced,
thank you, Lord, for the food we have. There are many that are hungry.

Even though the routine of my job often is monotonous,
thank you, Lord, for the opportunity to work.  There are many that have no job.

Even though I grumble and bemoan my fate from day to day and wish my circumstances were not so modest,
thank you Lord, for life!

May I always thank you Lord.  Amen

Feast Day of Sts Jude & Simon, Apostles - October 28

Sts. Jude & Simon, Apostles

Dear Savior, Saint Simon was zealous about preaching the Good News. His partner, Saint Jude, was known for exorcising pagan idols, which crumbled as the demons fled. Saint Jude is the patron saint of desperate situations and lost causes, and I ask them both to pray against the demons who are working to influence me or any members of my family, my church, or my friends. Remind us, O Lord, that no one is a lost cause and that You can turn even the most terrible situation into good. Help us to find protection in Your love as we reject Satan by purifying our souls and leading holy lives. Saints Simon and Jude, pray for us. Amen.

October 27 - Jesus Calling

As you become increasingly aware of My Presence, you find it easier to discern the way you should go. This is one of the practical benefits of living close to Me. Instead of wondering about what is on the road ahead or worrying about what you should do if…or when…, you can concentrate on staying in communication with Me.When you actually arrive at a choice-point, I will show you which direction to go.

Many people are so preoccupied with future plans and decisions that they fail to see choices they need to make today. Without any conscious awareness, they make their habitual responses. People who live this way find a dullness creeping into their lives. They sleepwalk through their days, following well-worn paths of routine.

I, the Creator of the universe, am the most creative Being imaginable. I will not leave you circling in deeply rutted paths. Instead, I will lead you along fresh trails of adventure, revealing to you things you did not know. Stay in communication with Me. Follow My guiding Presence.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. —Psalm 32:8

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. —Genesis 1:1
