Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Hello my friends!  Here's wishing you all a very happy and positive evening! It'll be relaxing for us.  I was tired today, so took a nap!  Thinking of going swimming tonight after we eat, one of the amenities here, that should go for a good night's sleep!  We'll have leftovers for supper - some good spaghetti enough for another meal!  I'm thankful for all the food we have, and for my dear family that God gave me! What a blessing!

If you would be ashamed to sign your name to your conversation, don't say it. Lord, my words can have far reaching effects.  May the effect always be good.

Scripture for the Day:

"No slave can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other.  You cannot serve God and wealth." Luke 16:13

Meditation for the Day:

Sometimes we'd like the full and complete satisfaction that we can find in serving God and all the satisfactions of the world as well. It is not easy to serve both God and the world. It is difficult to claim the rewards of both.  If we work for God, we can still have great rewards in the world. We can also be prepared to sometimes stand apart from the world. If we turn to the world for all the rewards which life has to offer we can be disappointed. If we try sincerely to serve God, we can have other and greater rewards than the world has to offer.

Prayer for the Day:

I pray that I may not expect too much from the world. I pray that I may be content with the rewards that come from serving God.

Dear Lord, Please give me...

A few friends who understand me and yet remain my friends.
A work to do which has real value, without which the world would feel the poorer...
A mind unafraid to travel, even though the trail be not blazed.
An understanding heart...
A sense of humor.
Time for quiet, silent meditation.
A feeling of the presence of God.
And the patience to wait for the coming of these things, with the wisdom to know them when they come.

Amen.

Prayer To St. Jude - Feast Day Oct. 28

Prayer to Saint Jude
Most holy Apostle Saint Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered the beloved Master into the hands of His enemies has caused you to be forgotten by many, but the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases, of things almost despaired of. Pray for me, I am so helpless and alone. Make use I implore you, of that particular privilege given to you, to bring visible and speedy help, where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolations and help of Heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, particularly your request and that I may bless God with you and all the elect forever.

Golden Rules for Living
by Miriam Hamilton Keare

1. If you open it, close it.
2. If you turn it on, turn it off.
3. If you unlock it, lock it up.
4. If you break it, admit it.
5. If you can't fix it, call in someone who can.
6. If you borrow it, return it.
7. If you value it, take care of it.
8. If you make a mess, clean it up.
9. If you move it, put it back.
10. If it belongs to someone else, get permission to use it.
11. If you don't know how to operate it, leave it alone.
12. If it's none of your business, don't ask questions.

Greed

One summer afternoon on the Mississippi River in
America a steamer crowded with passengers
suddenly struck a submerged rock. In a moment the
deck was a wild confusion. The lifeboats were
able to take off only one-fourth of all the
passengers. The rest tore off their clothes, and
swam ashore.

After everyone had deserted the overturned ship,
a man suddenly appeared on the leaning deck. He
grabbed a loose piece of wood and then jumped
into the river. But he sank like a stone.

When his body was recovered, it was found that
while the other passengers were busy escaping, he
was busy breaking open and robbing their trunks
and baggage. Many of them were miners returning
home with their treasure. This thief gathered
their gold, tied little bags of it around his
waist and within a quarter of an hour he had won
more gold than most men do in a lifetime.

But it dragged him to the bottom of the river in
an instant.

Do Not Doubt It

You are beautiful
God made you and you are beautiful
Do not doubt it
You are loved
God loves you
HIS love is unfailing and never ending
Do not doubt it
You are not alone
God is always with you
through the good times and the bad
HE will never forsake you
Do not doubt it
HE is waiting for you
When your time on this earth has ended
HE will be waiting for you at Heaven's Gate
with open arms
HE is ready to welcome you home
when the time is right
Do not doubt it

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitation for our sins.

Petition to Mary for the Suffering Souls

O Immaculate Mother, Queen of Heaven, hear the cries of your suffering children in purgatory and intercede for them at the throne of the Almighty. Behold in them, O Mother most faithful, the image of your Divine Son Who offered Himself in their behalf. Recall His bitter passion and death, and see in them His very sufferings. We feel confident, then, O Mother of Mercy, that you will obtain their liberation; so that they, in union with you and the choir of Heaven, may contemplate the Beatific Vision in heaven forever. Amen.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon them.

Amen

October 28 - Jesus Calling

Do not expect to be treated fairly in this life. People will say and do hurtful things to you, things that you don’t deserve. When someone mistreats you, try to view it as an opportunity to grow in grace. See how quickly you can forgive the one who has wounded you. Don’t be concerned about setting the record straight. Instead of obsessing about other people’s opinions of you, keep your focus on Me. Ultimately, it is My view of you that counts.

As you concentrate on relating to Me, remember that I have clothed you in My righteousness and holiness. I see you attired in these radiant garments, which I bought for you with My blood. This also is not fair; it is pure gift. When others treat you unfairly, remember that My ways with you are much better than fair. My ways are Peace and Love, which I have poured out into your heart by My Spirit.

Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. —Colossians 3:13

I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. —Isaiah 61:10

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. —Ephesians 1:7–8

And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. —Romans 5:5
