I live in Michigan too, west side in Muskegon. We are also expecting terrible weather, lots of icing, which is the worst! I will take snow any day over ice!
Be safe everyone!

@Misplaced Parisian I am laughing over "embrace my inner sloth" 😂.

@Group 5 minus 1 We are in lower MI, SW area and according to my radar weather this morning, we're looking at some freezing rain, after the rain, then snow and sleet here, with measureable ice. It'll probably go in your direction. I see what you are getting now. So I imagine, candles, flashlites, portable radio, blankets, and crochet is in my future. I know something like this hits us sometime in January without fail. We may be w/o power for awhile. Everyone got stuff done yesterday if they could, in anticipation of today's and tomorrows mess.
Good luck!!

I live in upper Michigan and am keeping my fingers crossed that we'll finally be able to use our whole house generator that we had installed last year! Yippee!!

I live near Schaumburg, IL. I hate snow, I hate the cold. I won't complain about the winter weather we've been having so far, I like mild winters with not much snow.

We do own a whole house generator.(Generac). It is great. We have poweroutages frequently. We live in the woods and need it,esp for the well and commodes.

They might have, but to be fair it can be difficult to tell exactly which areas are going to get the bullseye ice mess from this storm. I'm right along the I-94 corridor and it's still just raining heavily, although the temp has dropped from 55 at 7 AM to 35 now.
I just spent 15 minutes pulling piles of nasty dead leaves and garbage out of the storm drain in front of my house as the road was starting to flood. I came back to the garage and my neighbor came out and told me "you shouldn't have thrown that all on the curb lawn, you should take it to the dumpster". I just looked at her and said "you're welcome for not having the storm sewer back up in to your basement". Sheesh.
