Well @Bird mama, you handled the yard waste problem very diplomatically I'm proud of you! Waste Mgmt handles our re-cycle's, the city our waste garbage, which we are now charged for even tho it's included in our property taxes, but I do have to say if you have a complaint they're on the ball, even out to my house on a Sunday morning because my garbage was not picked up, but that's a long story,  anyway we could be living in NY!!

@katte, hope your bee situation has been taken care of, I think some species are nasty like wasps, but honeybees are not?  I really don't know all that much about them but that I try to stay far away.  One year the wasps kept trying to build their nests on the underside of my deck roof, sprayed (over & over) with the can stuff, but had to do it many times in different spots they kept choosing, they are very determined.

@Winifred hope all is well with you & you're cooking up a storm  lol

Quiet here think rain is on the way so best I get out & clean up after Sadie before that happens, will leave some cupcakes at the back fence.

Hi all. just checking in.

We have had three days of record temps and one day broke the all time record in the high 80's. I am anxious to use our a/c that we had installed recently.  Last summer was too hot and I suffered.

The lilacs are in full bloom and usually bloom around memorial day.  Everything is so early this year. Supposed to have showers the next few days.  I planted some starts after dinner and am watering them as the ground is so dry. Wanted to get them in before the showers if we get them.

This week we have been able to stay on the island.  I changed one dr. appointment as I just wanted to stay at home this week.  Tuesday Ron is having day surgery to repair his hernia. Monday I go to the hand dr for my after surgery appointment so that means two days on the mainland. I had him do a couple of things for me that he won't be able to do after his surgery for a while.

I think the squirrel got a taste of the birdseed with the squirrel repellent on it as he hasn't been back. It doesn't deter the birds thank goodness.

My purse was stolen three weeks ago.  The one time I didn't lock the van as I ran in to the jewlers to have a ring sized and I was back in the van in less than 5 minutes.  Monday I got a call from Wal Mart 35 miles away that they had my purse. I picked it up yesterday and nothing was missing.  The two credit cards I canceled and my drivers license plus the little bit of money were all there.  Strange how it got there.  The police said they think either the person got scared or tried to make a purchase at

Wal Mart and it was denied and they left it. It is a miracle that I got it back and especially with everything in it.

I  made a cherry dump cake aand it is delicious so I made another one for you at the fence.  enjoy.

katte, what happened with the bee man? Some years back I had problems with bees - they can get quite nasty. I was renting and they had just moved inside - not in the house but between the dry wall and outside walls - they can be very disastrous quite frankly. And then a couple years ago the person behind me decided they wanted to start having honey to sell. NOPE, the darn bees moved into my yard and I could not go out. It was horrible. Could not figure out why they would even try to do that - not legal at all as you cannot have bee hives just wherever. Took several weeks for them to gather them all up. I spoke to them, they did nothing so called the City, Figured out their thinking process - somewhat -  as later they were evicted - growing pot inside the house - 150 plants - and got caught. People!!

So sad to hear about Prince, this has been a year already with people leaving us unexpectedly. Was never a big fan of his but always thought he was a very decent person. So young!

Betty, what about the TV man?

Hope all have a great day today!!

@meuw

Wow, Meuw you were really lucky that the contents of your purse were intact.

@Winifred

Well I guess we know why they had the bees Freddie - keep people off off the property so they could grow pot.

I'm still in shock about the passing of Prince.  I know we all gotta go sometimes - he was just 57.  Aside from famous people, I am hearing of people dying at what I consider to be a young age.  Don't know what that is all about.

Lots of news at the fence today. What a shame that another talent is gone.  So many have been so young

Meuw, I'm glad you got your purse back.  And everything was intact. Wonderful.   Good luck with the hernia surgery and hand inspection

About the tv, I posted yesterday to space angel I guess

I was waiting patiently Wednesday afternoon when my computer calendar pops up and says he's coming Thursday. That can't be right. I checked my backup paper and pencil calendar and sure enough Thursday

Thursday at 2 pm I get a recorded message rat he has been delayed til Friday.   Twenty minutes later I get a call from the tech that he will be at my house in two minutes.  He didn't know why I got the recording

Speaking of bees, it is the meateater bees that live in the ground that are horrible here, not the pollinators, black and bumble.

DH was planting one Sunday, years ago, and we saw the bees/wasps buzzing around coming from the ground, and wouldn't you know, he was stung in the head, it began to swell, so off to the emergency room.

Remmy was stung on the lower eyelid last year.  I found a hole in the ground in one of my flower gardens a year or so ago, and there was nothing to do but to spray inside and all around the hole.  Normally, I don't do anything to harm anything, but when something comes after me and mine, look out!  We also hung a trap and caught tons.  We couldn't eat outside or even grill because they would come around, but I havn't seen them for a few years now, though I do hear them around the roof eve near the chimney.

So far, it lightly rained but has stopped now, hopefully to begin again, just not on Sunday. Smiley Happy This light rain doesn't do much in the garden, just prevents me and the dogs from going out.

When I bought my seeds recently, I bought a sprout grower.  I can grow them in the kitchen and just pop them into my mouth whenever I wish.  I bought broccoli and alfalfa sprout seeds.  They are wonderful in sandwiches, I have a slice of multigrain bread with tuna salad and sprouts on top.  They are sweet and have a nice little crunch, and nutritious, also perfect for nibbling since I have to eat small portions. Smiley Happy

I hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend.

Part Two

Took the router out of garage and brought a new one inside.    Had it setup in twenty minutes.  Then we had to change network name and password and I carefully made sure all devices were changed.  Guy left. Tested devices, all staying connected.

Merle comes home and all seemed well. He tried to print.  No luck.  oops.    I went to printer and entered new network name and password.   All devices worked except his.  I worked on it for awhile but then got up after he went to bed and tried to figure it out.  Finally decided it was the Indy connection so called them this morning. They had to uninstall and reinstall the printer on their network.  The young man was so nice.  It took a while but I think everything is now working. Long story short, we are back in business

@yock

Betty I'm glad they got it all straightened out.  Today was supposed to start my upgrade from 'pro' to 'elite' internet service with ATT.  I tried out the computer before I left the house for work.  Could be my imagination but I'd swear it's moving slower than it was yesterday, rofl.
