Re: Anyone Getting Christmas Cards Yet

I stopped doing them years ago.  Of course when I sent them out I recieved more.  However now we only get a few.  I just don't have the time.  Between decorating & my Etsy shop which can get overwhelming this time of year, doing cards is just another big chore.

Re: Anyone Getting Christmas Cards Yet

@Allegheny  Received the first card yesterday from a friend who always sends their cards right after Thanksgiving. I've done it a couple of times, but feel it is pushing the season. Have decided to wait until the first week in December.

Re: Anyone Getting Christmas Cards Yet

Haven't received any yet.  I wrote mine out Monday and sent them out yesterday.  I love, love, love getting Christmas cards in the mail!!!!  To me, its such a huge part of the holiday season.  I am very sad that this seems to be a tradition that is going by the way side.  I realize that some of the reason is postage is getting so high.  You can buy cute cards very inexpensively but its the mailing costs and also some just don't like to sit and take the time.  I personally enjoy doing it and anticipate getting some in return.  There are some people that the only time I hear from them is at this time of the year, so it really matters to me!!!  I get less and less cards each year.

Not Yet! Usually get one the first of December from an early bird friend  Smiley Happy

With postage going up seems we get less. Now in January postage is going from 50 cents to 55 cents.

@CherryHugs.  So buy a bunch of Forever stamps before the price goes up.

Re: Anyone Getting Christmas Cards Yet

I love sending and receiving Christmas cards. I always write a short note to everyone and enjoy doing it very much. So many of the people I send to, I only hear from at Christmas time so it's  really nice to stay in touch. I sure hope it's not something that will fade away, it just seems like a tradition that I like to keep going.

Re: Anyone Getting Christmas Cards Yet

I am one of the few who still send cards; I am late getting them ready to go this year; too busy to sit down and do it; I have already received one from the insurance agent, the dry cleaners, and our car dealer....they never forget! I love getting cards from people who take the time to write a note, put on a stamp, and mail it to me. Almost a lost art. The worst? obnoxious Christmas letters that do nothing but brag about their new house or job promotion and their honor roll children. These are sent by the same people who never have contact with you any other time. Second on the naughty list are the cards that are addressed as well as signed by a printer. Why bother?

Re: Anyone Getting Christmas Cards Yet

I send the cards because most family & friends live out of state, we have a label print thing on the computer so I don't have to address it just write inside the card so easy. Well today my husband getting ready to print out the labels but a few relatives died & some moved I have no idea, now down to 15 cards instead of my usual 25. Kind of sad but I even do birthday cards for close friends and Thanksgiving or even a get well. Just a little personal thinking of you during this time. I even love an e-mail card. Just fun to see someone take a few minutes out to think of us. Stock up on stamps Jan1st they go up another 5 cents, we pay everything on line hardly use stamps anymore just so you know.

@Allegheny

I’ll be surprised if I get any other than from close family. Most of us stopped sending them years ago.
