The first thing I thought of when I read your post is that white streaks on black might look a little too skunk-ish ....... maybe bronze or even blonde would be better ...... but a temporary color /powder is definitely the way to go.

You could try some of those ""clip-in"" streaks

Try white shoe polish or White Out by BIC (typing correction fluid). That works. I was in a Halloween play as a vampire and they used the above on my dark hair. It works!!
