This evening, this happened...

I set something on the counter and then walked away.  I heard a sound for about 6 seconds and then a louder sound that lasted only 1 second.  

 

What happened?

You didn't close the top to a plastic soda bottle and the gas leaked out making a fizz sound and then pop the bottle released the gas inside.
