OK. This is my final answer and I hope I'm wrong. It would make a terrible mess.

You took a hot baking dish out of the oven and set it on the counter.  You didn't know it, but the counter had a little puddle of water on it.  When the hot pan came in contact with the water, it cause the dish to break.

YES!  I was getting ready to pan-fry some tilapia for us.  That has never happened to me before!  What a mess.

Re: This evening, this happened...

You set your cooked brats on the counter, walked mistakenly away and your dog very quietly came in,  jumped up and scarfed them all.  Yeah those crazy pets of our's can be very quiet hen they want to.

This happened to me.  All I came back to was a chesire grin on my dog while licking his lips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So much for that dinner!!!!  I advise you never turn your back with dinner on the counter!!!!!!!

It's funny; I should have gone with my first thought, since it was closer to the answer.

This happened . . . to me.  Woman Wink

I came home from grocery shopping, started unloading the cold things on the counter next to the refrigerator.  I had just bought a bottle of Marzetti's Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing [Oh, so yummy!].

I inadvertently set it on its side, intending to put it up next.  I turned to the refrigerator with something else in my hands and heard a . . .

R-o-l-l-l-l-l-i-n-g sound . . .

Then . . . splat!

No more Marzetti's for me!

[I was finding glass remnants weeks later.]
