Ipad Help on Making Paragraphs Pls

Hi. Can someone tell me how to make paragraphs on QVC forums with the ipad 3? I hate how disjointed my posts seem. TIA. LM

Re: Ipad Help on Making Paragraphs Pls

Hey Lilysmom!! Here's a post I created w/ that info...and a little bit more! Hope this helps!!

----------

If you "quote" a poster, you'll see all the CODE that's embedded...and that's what you'll use. For illustration purposes only, I'll add a "$" so you can see the code without iPad inverting it to Code. REMOVE the $ to have it work, okay? There are 2 codes for each action...one to start & another to end.

Paragraph, start = <$p>

Paragraph, end = <$/p>

Bold, start = <$strong>

Bold, end = <$/strong>

Underline, start = <$span style="text-decoration: underline;">

Underline, end = <$/span>

Italics, start = <$em>

Italics, end = <$/em>

I've even created a shortcut by going to Settings - General - Keyboard & created a shortcut for each action.

BTW, I've typed all this out on my iPad!

Re: Ipad Help on Making Paragraphs Pls

sidsmom, Another question: If you typed all that on your iPad, why is your text normal sized and not tiny? What is the trick there?

Re: Ipad Help on Making Paragraphs Pls

Making the ""paragraph"" function will automatically make the font bigger (this is small).

...now I did & it's bigger!

Re: Ipad Help on Making Paragraphs Pls

I have an iPad 4 and I only use "<$p>" before every paragraph. That tells the page to give my text the proper size although I don't know why we have to do this on iPads.

I don't have to use the end paragraph marker. I also don't know why this isn't necessary since typical HTML requires both the open and close markers but something is really weird about this Web site when you use it in Safari. SHOPR, you are using Safari on your iPad 3 right?

Sidsmom, thanks for posting all those emoticon codes! I didn't have a clue how to get those in my posts from my iPad. I'm typically on my PC and just use the buttons!!

KJPA, Yes, I use Safari on my iPad Retina (that's iPad3?). I have not tried any of the paragraph tips yet, so I'm not able to comment on which method works for me at this point. 99% of the time I'm using a PC, as I am right now. Helpful info, though. Thanks.

SHOPR, same here! My iPad is my one and only Apple device and it's an iPad Retina. I thought that was "4" but those numbers got all confused in my mind. Smiley Wink Anyway, Sidsmom's tips are right on except I found I don't need the ending markers. Just start the paragraph like she showed you, without the $ and the size of your text will look like it came from your PC. It will save you some time if you don't have to repeat the marker at the end with the "/" added to it. I think the Web site inserts ending markers for you. It should insert the beginning markers too and none of us understands why it doesn't do that in Safari!!

I love my iPad but I'm on the PC more like you and I'm more comfortable with the full laptop keyboard.
