Lilysmom, Maybe this will help:
The website interprets the "<" to mean "it's time to use the HTML code to make formatting changes."
But the "$" tells the website "never mind."
So, sidsmom has to use the "$" in order to have to code actually appear here for you to see it.
But if you want the info inside the "<" and ">" to work, you need to omit the "$".
I hope that helps.

Try again Lilysmom and make the <> marks but put a p in between them.
It is sometimes hard to explain this stuff when we're online isn't it ![]()
Don't use any $. That was just to allow Sidsmom to show us what she did. If she used the codes without it you wouldn't be able to see it there would just be a new paragraph ![]()

Hi, KJPA! Thanks! My career's been in IT (in healthcare), and I do some programming and software debugging sometimes. As you said, when we have to rely on the written word sometimes it's hard to convey exactly what we want.
sidsmom
has done such a great job of capturing the code for some of the formatting and emoties, and I've posted some of it over the years too. But I've always found it a wee bit difficult to explain why we have to add a special character or a space to force the code to display.
The real problem is this website. No one should have to jump through these hoops just because they use a certain device (especially when it's one QVC sells
).

Woot! You did it!!!! Now....you can create a shortcut for those actions:
Go to Settings - General - Keyboard and make a shortcut for the beginning & the ending. For instance, my beginning action is a shortcut of "bb"....and ending "ee". It's so easy....it might take a little work up front, but it's worth it. Come back here for ??s, okay?

Sidsmom, here's the crazy thing about it. I have been using those symbols to make regular sized text for awhile now. Had no idea putting them in the body of text would give me a new paragraph. I was only using them at the beginning and end of a post.
Live and learn. Tomorrow, after coffee, I will try the shortcuts lol. Thanks again! LM
