Re: "Breaking up with your Doctor"

I would write an organized, consise objective online review (pluses and minuses) regarding your concerns but not worry about talking to the doctor.

I like the NP that I go to, but if I found somebody closer, I would go to them. I believe they care, but it's also about keeping the numbers up (statistics) and the money coming in to support the practice while agreeing to all the state/federal/insurance regulations..  I also believe that doctors get burned out.

@ECBG: All I ever had to do was sign a release form with my new Doctor. They then would send it to the previous Doctor. No Notary was needed.

@ECBG @Same here. The new doctor's office took care of everything.

Re: "Breaking up with your Doctor"

@ECBG: I changed about 7 years ago. My Doctors office is still doing it that way. Even when I lived in California my Doctors there, did it the same way.

Re: "Breaking up with your Doctor"

@I am still oxox   If you do a video conference with her on Monday, she will charge for the visit.

Why have her get paid for you just to tell her goodbye?  I have left plenty of doctors over the years without saying anything and not one of them contacted me to schedule another appointment or sent me any reminders.

Doctors are our employees. We hire them to provide a service to us.  If we feel their service is not up to par..good riddance.

No, I just go to a new doctor.  I've never called my former doctor to explain why I left.

Re: "Breaking up with your Doctor"

I would get copies of any recent lab work, imaging studies or any other diagnostics . If possible the last detailed  progress note for your personal records . these will be helpful  to any new MD you choose.  You can get copies from whereever you  had the labs or imaging studies , if you choose not to go through your  propr MD 's office.

@skatting44

My blood work is important and I am able to get those on line, I printed out the last 3 or 4 results and gave them to my new doc
