~ question about Cortisone shots ~

Does anyone know how long a cortisone shot lasts before it fades away? I had one in my foot last Thurs. from my Ortho. If that doesn't help the inflammation from either a torn ligament or ruptured tendon, I'm to get an MRI. So far, so good .... today is Tuesday.
