I buy Natures Made at CVS.  You may be sensitive.  All of us have different physiology.  I would suggest you call your doctor first before going further.

I have tried various different brands of melatonin and had bad reactions to them all.  It isn’t for everyone.

Somebody posted here this week that, in order for it to be effective, you have to take it on a continuous basis, presumably every day for a period of time.  She said just taking one pill is not effective.

If neither the melatonin or the medication you had a while back from the doctor are helping you sleep then you need to go back and explain.

You are entitled to help with this problem since it is affecting your life.

How long do you sleep at night---I wake up about 3 times a night and then have to go to the bathroom. Is this usual?

@halfpint1 is it the noise that is still keeping you up?

I wake up two or three times a night and I don't sleep well the rest of the time. That's just pretty normal for me. I've taken melatonin in the past and at best it helped me to knot wake up and hop out of bed. I was able to wake up and sort of just go back to sleep. For the most part it doesn't help at all most of the time.

If it's still the noise bothering you then you have to go to the doctor and explain it all to him. Maybe write down stuff ahead of time so you don't leave anything out. Explain that others don't hear the noise, when it's happening and where. I know you walk a lot. Do you hear it when you are out doing that?

@halfpint1 I take the Natroe brand melatonin from Costco.

It must be taken on a nightly basis to do any good.

I tried  it years ago.  The first 2 nights it made me fall asleep and then it was not doing anything.  I stopped taking it.  Don't remember the brand but I would go with a well known brand like Nature Made.
