Re: fitbit users...how long do they last?

@ceekay  Thanks for the tip about amazon.  I don't know why I don't look there first.

LOVE all the clip colors!

I like the One because it doesn't matter if your arms are moving, as long as your feet are.  Woman LOL

Re: fitbit users...how long do they last?

I got a Fitbit One from Amazon in May and used it everyday.  It stopped working after about 3 months but Fitbit replaced it really quickly.  They even followed up with me asking if the replacement worked and if I were satisfied.

I upgraded to the Fitbit HR Charge 2 in January because QVC had it as the TSV and by that time I had decided it was more to my liking to have a wristband type.  I wear it everyday.  And it does motivate me to move more.  I try to get more than 10,000 steps a day but I love it when I get close to 20,000, not an easy task.

@Tinkrbl44  Yes.  Well...at least until it went missing I was using it every day.

One of the reasons I'm asking is...can I figure it was about done, and figure it's time for a replacement anyway?  That it wouldn't have lasted much longer?

The FitBit Charge HR had a plastic back that would come off easily, It got pulled off when connected to the charger. I had FitBit replace mine for free when it fell off after only 3 months. The replacement also eventually fell off, but I'd already upgraded to an Alta and only used the Charge HR when I was working out and wanted the heart rate monitor.

Now I have the Charge 2, which is much better. The FitBit portion is one piece and the bands are interchangeable, so if one breaks, I can easily replace it.

I think my Alta and Charge 2 should last for years and I'm very happy with both. I've had the Alta for about 10 months and the Charge 2 for about 3 months and I like them both very much. Both are much better made than the Charge HR was.

And for anyone who has lost a FitBit, there's an app called "Find My FitBit" that I've already used a few times. It cost me $5.99 to download, but it paid for itself by finding my Charge 2 when I lost it in couch cushions and when it off a counter and into a flowerpot.

Re: fitbit users...how long do they last?

I'd like to get one for my husband and one for me so it can count steps and monitor our heart rate.  I wasn't sure whether to get a Fitbit or Apple watch, but with Apple you have to charge the battery too often.  What a pain.

Any suggestions?

@ChynnaBlue. I saw that app.  I wonder if it would find my first one even though I have activated a second one.  Does the app have to be "paired" with a fitbit to find it?

There are two ways to find a FitBit, one is a paired device and the other is an unpaired device. I haven't tried finding an unpaired device. Time is of the essence, because the FitBit needs to have a charged battery to send out a signal for the app to find.

You can have multiple FitBits paired, unless you've manually "Forgotten" your old FitBit, it might still be paired. I have had three paired and synced with my FitBit app in the past. Right now I have two and they are both paired and accounted for in the FitBit app and the Fitness Band Finder App. (Sorry, they changed the name from Find My FitBit.)

The app uses a "hot/warm/cold" system, so you hold your phone/tablet and walk around watching the line move from cold to warm to hot. The signal goes through walls (and floors!), so you may be close and not find it because it's in the other room near the wall, but so far it's worked well for me. I've only lost my FitBit inside my home, never away. I once forgot to add the keeper loop to a band and my FitBit fell open and inside my grocery bag.

Re: fitbit users...how long do they last?

I got tired of having to plug mine into my laptop every night and also having to take it off for showers, etc.

Around the same time I was getting tired of all that, I heard about the app STEPS for my iphone and downloaded that. For a while, I used both and decided STEPS was the way to simplify my already too complicated life.

The fitbit went to our local charity store for resale.

I went thru two in eighteen months. The plastic cover on the back broke. Fitbit replaced the first one. When the second one broke, I went back to my basic pedometer. No more charging and syncing for me.
