dental implants

I am probably going to have an implant started next month; the max. surgeon who will be doing it says I will need IV sedation...I have never had this for dental work, only local or nitous oxide

Anyone had IV sedation for oral surgery? I am a little nervous about it because the dr. is so laidback and nonchalant about it...is that to keep me from being stressed or is it really no big deal?
