@qualitygal It sounds like you used the Miralax/Gatorade prep, which is what I used the last three times...I go every three years. They have discontinued that prep method because the FDA has found it can cause serious electrolyte issues. They are now back to the “gallon of garbage.”
I have absolutely no idea how I’m going to get down that whole gallon. But I guess I’ll find out in a few weeks.
@OnlyShopsOnline, I just had mine done a couple months ago and had the Gatorade/Miralax prep. I cannot find anything on-line that indicates the FDA found this method to cause an electrolyte issue.
I know it was never approved by the FDA but Gatorade is supposed to replace electrolytes so I'm not sure why there would be a problem with this prep over the others.

I really hope that the FDA did not disapprove of
this procedure. I cannot keep the GoLighlty c*ap
down!! Have used the Gatorade way for the last
three colo's.

@corita Please do not worry! The Miralax prep has not been discontinued. Some here are misinformed.

Thanks! Am so glad...I have a really sensitive
stomach. Can barely get most of the Gatorade/Miralax
drink down....
I can't tolerate it well myself. I use vitamin water as gatorade is too acidic for my stomach. You can mix any clear juice of your choice. Half apple, half water, etc. My gastro says to drink it slower and do the best you can. I didn't finish it and all was ok.

I'm glad both yours and mine are over!!!!!
THey removed 3 polyps and because I have a "twisted colon" (who knew??) the sedation didn't quite sedate me. I think I yelled a lot
But, it's over and there are no problems (hopefully. they did take a biopsy). Now I'm on the 5 year plan.
Next time- propofol for me!!!!
I thought they always used propofol for this procedure? What did they use instead if I may ask??
My husband had one recently and did the Gatorade miralax combo as I recall....and had propofol.
A co-worker of his also had one several months prior and he ended up in ICU as they perforated his colon during the procedure.

Theyve got to find a better way to administer this awful procedure. Its like the stone ages. American medicine has not advanced much since the 1960s. My personal belief is these tests are huge revenue machines and there is no incentive to get rid of the procedure. My neighbor got one, woke up in the middle of the procedure, was in horrible pain but could not communicate verbally.

I know someone that woke up during a procedure as well. You would think they'd come up with a better process than having us drink this disgusting stuff.

@Reever : The last procedure of this type I had done I asked if I could have Cologard (if you are 76 or older you can't have it and to can't use this test it you don't meet certain medical criteria). It was very easy and I just took the sealed package to FedEx so they could ship my s***.

My neighbor woke up but was completely immobile. She was conscious of what was going on but could not communicate her pain to the doctor. She said "Never again" and hasnt been back for a colonoscopy in 20 years ! She is still well into her 70s and healthy.

@Reever : I've had two colonoscopies and one Cologard. I'll never forget my first one: I had it shortly after my supervisor's mom died from a punctured colon during the procedure, so I was apphrensive. So I'm in the pre op room and there were maybe five guys also waiting their turn. In comes a woman, already in panic mode, screaming "I'm going to die"; they immediately wheeled her in. After my procedure, I was in recovery....next to same gal, still screaming and complaining!
