My Dr told me to start taking Tumeric supplement for my arthritis. I call her my 'pain dr' because she treats my severe pain (not just arthritis pain). She said it has been known to help people in a lot of pain.
I figured I'd ask some of you. I do take his vitamins but don't know much about Tumeric. Anyone have any advice?

I tried taking Turmeric for a couple of months and could tell absolutely no difference in my pain.

Hi @Annabellethecat66. I don't buy Lessman's products but I wanted to give you a little general info.
I was buying a tablet form of Turmeric from Costco - I think the brand was YouTheory. It was great. You need to have black pepper as part of the pill and this brand had it. But they have switched to a capsule form now and this is my problem with capsules: they give me heartburn.
I actually now take a combo pill of turmeric and tart cherry from Puritan's Pride. But I open the capsule and sprinkle small amounts over my oatmeal or cereal in the morning to avoid any heartburn.
Good luck - others will chime in. Turmeric is a great supplement to alleviate inflamation. There are also studies that have shown that in countries where a lot of curries are eaten the incident of Alzheimer's is greatly lessened.
BTW - there is an "r" in the word: TuRmeric. :-)

I uwasse Vitacost's Turmeric Curcumin and found it worked like magic after only a few days taking it.

For effective relief using turmeric, it should be taken as a "standardized" sup and contain piperdine (black pepper). The piperdine is the key for it's absorption. Otherwise, taking just plain turmeric may not help with pain issues. When "standardized" is taken, there are measured amounts of active ingredients which make the sup pungent and effective.
Dosage has been shown to be effective at 500mg three times per day, taken with food. When starting with this sup, go slow. You may get an upset tummy.

@Annabellethecat66 I buy it at Vitacost, but wherever you buy it, be sure it has bioperene in it as it helps with absorbtion, and take it with food that has some fat. I don't find it helps with pain, but it is supposed to boost the immune system and help with inflammation. I have been taking it for around ten years.

I took Andrew's Tumeric w/o the ginger. Had to discontinue after 1 week due to stomach upset and the runs.
Fwiw, when you take a combo product you don't know which ingredient is working tumeric or ginger and which is not.

To all of you thank you very much for posting. It was kind of you to let me know.
I've taken notes on what each of you has said and will do some research and order it.
Thanks again!
