The tinnitus in one ear.  It is so hard.  I do try a sound machine but not a lot of help.

my dh suffers with tinnitus. To go to sleep he puts in earphones connected to Spotify on his phone, and listens to music. Seems to work for him. I cant imagine that constant whooshing sound all day every day

Be very careful of that medication.  I ended up in the ER twice because that blood pressure medication depleats you of potassium.  My doctor finally put me on a different med.

Im sure her doc is on top of that.

Right now - I usually walk around the house in my bare feet. Well my little toe came in contact with the folding stair to the attic. Guess I might have broken or damaged something. The little toe swelled up and turned black and blue. Wearing anything on my foot hurts and turned the top of my foot black and blue whenever I wore a shoe. Only one pair of shoes fit.

So when I try to sleep, even a sheet on my foot hurt. So

Oh man, I can relate!  A few years ago I kicked my Pilates rebounder with my pinkie toe.

So the nail was just hanging by a thread.  UGH!  I didn't want to pull it off I was petrified it would hurt more.

So this is going to sound totally crazy, but my husband taped a dixie cup to my pinkie toe to protect it from the sheet ripping it off!

It was kind of like when you see dogs that had surgery and have that crazy collar around their neck.

But it worked.  I was able to sleep.

Re: What keeps you awake at night?

My sister is very, very ill and her life will never be the same, I wake up in the middle to of the night to wee, (TMI) and get back into bed and start thinking of her, and can't fall back to sleep knowing the difficult challenges and life changes she has ahead of her. I am 600 miles from her, so it's not like I can go to her house every day and help her.

(I'm very upset and don't want any advice or suggestions, I hope you understand)

I understand. I wish I could be more of a listening ear for you. Hugs and a prayer for you and your dear sister.

Re: What keeps you awake at night?

Chronic pain has been a problem for me for about 20 years.  For years it was an undiagnosed pain syndrome that caused muscle pain and cramping.  And then it went away.  Now its osteoarthritis in my neck, upper back, shoulder,  right knee.  Something hurts every minute of every day.  I take Tylenol during the day and just ignore the pain.  But my body and mind need a restful sleep so I take 300mg of Gabapentin an hour before bedtime and I sleep soundly for 6-7 hours.

Re: What keeps you awake at night?

Right now it's knee replacement surgery pain keeping me up at night, but aside from that I just don't sleep through the night at age 80 the way I did at age 30. One of the "perks" of growing older.

Re: What keeps you awake at night?

Let's see.

1. Hand and shoulder pain from arthritis. I don't use NSAIDS often.

2. Dog pressed up hard against me.

3. Worries/busy brain.

4. Bladder.

5. Husband occasionally has the sleep disturbances associated with Parkinson's. I might get twin beds but that wouldn't solve all of the issues.

For those who have issues with getting up in the night for bathroom visits, you may try to stop drinking at 7:00 or 2-3 hours before your bedtime. That does the trick for me.

Works for me too!

I stop drinking liquids by 8:00 PM, and I never have to get up in the middle of the night for a "bathroom run." Smiley Wink
