Re: What is the highest BP you have had ?

[ Edited ]

220/110

I was having eye problems and thought I was going blind. I had a torn retina.  I went to the ER and they were not interested in treating my eye, but were Very concerned  about my BP.

I was in the ER all night taking all types of BP meds until it finally came down to a normal reading.  I went the next day and got my retina repaired.

My BP is normally 110/70, but if I get excited, it spikes, so I learned.  I take no meds.

Not myself, but my mother. Her BP went up to 260/120. The doc always had trouble keeping it under control. My highest was 170/90. I take 3 BP drugs a day.

Re: What is the highest BP you have had ?

I have dealt with hypertension since being in my 20's. Genetics plays a huge part. Both parents had high blood pressure most of their lives too.  It did not help me when I was young  in my 20's that I partied ....was overweight...smoked and ate wrong....and  had a was going to live forever mentality.

As I got older, I lost 50  plus pounds...quit smoking....that was about 30 years ago. Today I still have to watch my blood pressure....but am able to keep it  at a decent reading by cutting back on coffee( LOVE it)  and taking natural supplements...watching my weight..My blood pressure  usually reads  about 130/72.  I will do just about anything not to take medication....but, as I get older, if it comes to that, I will do whatever I need to do to stay well.

I probably win the high BP award ... and lived to tell about it.

At the ripe old age of 30, weight 127 pounds, I went to the ER for a cut hand that needed stitches.  My BP was taken, and then taken again, and then taken again by another doc.  It was 250/150 and they looked at me like I'd sprouted a second head.

After a multitude of tests, medications and a lot of appointments and hassle, I was diagnosed with Renal Artery Stenosis,  The arteries leading to my kidneys were constricted, causing my kidneys to emit a chemical to elevate my BP so the kidneys would get enought blood flow.   I underwent a few renal artery angioplasties to stretch my arteries open a bit and it more or less has done the trick.

When they had asked at the ER how did I feel, I said I had a bit of a headache.  250 over 150 was a new record for a couple of the people who attended to me.

I have LOW bp, and it's not at all fun as well.  Right now it's 87 over 54,   Not too bad  I guess.  I think it's time to look for another cardiologist, because of lack of knowedge.  And he possibly has a hearing problem.  :catwink  Man Wink  Even my sodium level shows up as low.  The main feeling is when you stand up too quickly from a hot water bath tub.  Makes sense??

That is an award i wouldn't want to win , funny how each body can handle so much and others with much lower bp can be in big trouble.

@MW in Iowa  200/110 was the highest. I have been on BP meds for about 14 years. Retiring from a stressful job in 2020

has helped.

I can understand about the stressful job , i am retired with out any stress  to speak of, it must be my body trying to tell me to make some improvements , so funny i am thin , don't drink , don't smoke , go figure.

I take my BP at home. It has been as high as around 200/107. The only symptom was headache.

I took BP medication for a short time.

My BP is genreally in the 120 or 130 over 70 or 80 so range. As long as it stays like that I'm not taking medication for it. It was 125/71 earlier.
