@gidgetgh : So sorry to read that you are dealing with this.
Praying that you are feeling better.
DH and I have never had covid but have been tested several times.
We actually had someone to tell us that we probably had a mild case and thought it was a cold or flu.😯😯🙄🙄🙄

Dear Pam, I'm so sorry to read that you were sick with Covid, after being so careful to avoid it. Do you have any idea of where you may have picked it up?
The vaccine does not prevent people from contracting it, but is supposed to lessen symptoms. I hope that you were not extremely sick and are fully recovered with no long lasting effects.
My sister in law got it last Fall when she went to the dentist
and had to sit in the waiting area. She had been like you and me, wearing a mask, grocery shopping early in the morning and mostly staying home , to avoid Covid. She also had the vaccine. She was sick for a couple of weeks and then was left with a cough for a few weeks more. She's fine now as I hope that you are.
Mostly, my groceries are delivered, but I did go to the supermarket last Sunday. Now that Spring is here, I hope to get out more. Covid is still around, but I see few people wearing masks, even at the doctors' offices.
The past couple of weeks, I've been trying to catch up with appointments, that I had been avoiding, since being sick since the end of January.
After being careful for five years and avoiding large gatherings, except for my grand daughter's wedding two years ago, I got sick after someone brought a Rhinovirus to my house. She said that it was allergies, but she was coughing , sneezing and blowing her red nose constantly. She was using so many tissues, that my husband gave her a paper bag to put them in.
We sat together on the sofa for over an hour. Well, after 48 hours incubation, I had a headache and a sore throat, that is how things start with me. I had not been sick since I retired 5 years ago. I made a big pot of chicken soup and ate that for days.
It then progressed and I was coughing, sneezing and blowing my nose. I sounded just like the person who came sick to my
house. I was like that for two weeks. I lived on tea and toast, avoiding dairy foods. Then it became a sinus infection and affected my ears, blocking my hearing. Two weeks ago, I went to my PCP and she said that she saw fluid in one ear. Even now, it is popping and still in my ear. Recently I read about another woman who said that she had something similar and it lasted three months. This is a first for me, for something to last this long.
Fortunately, I don't feel sick and don't have ear pain. It will probably go away just in time for my yearly Spring sinus congestion and vertigo.
I do hope that you are well and looking forward to some nice Spring weather and sunshine. I want to go walking , when it is warm enough.
Things are beginning to show green sprouts and the forsythia is starting to bud. I love to see everything turning green again.
Happy Spring!

I hadn't seen this post earlier, but wanted to add my hope you feel better soon.
I also have not had covid. Not sure if it's just dumb luck on my part. But since I subbed in the school district, I've been vaccinated a couple of times.
Anyway, sending good thoughts that you are up and about real soon. And that your sense of smell and taste returns. What's the point of eating something really garlicky if you can't smell or taste it?![]()
Best wishes.

@roeroe1005 - thank you.
I have made quite a bit of improvement, but still have a ways to go. What remains is some very mild congestion, some pretty significant fatigue, And I still have no taste of smell and spotty, on and off, sense of taste.
I was up to date on my vaccines. Had my most recent one last October.
Having never had Covid before, I don't know if my case would be considered mild or moderate, etc., but I was pretty darn sick for several days. It will be 2 weeks this Tuesday night and while I am greatly, greatly improved, I'm not totally normal yet. From what I hear, what I'm experiencing now is pretty normal though.

I chuckle thinking about my 92 yr old Dad's parting gift of covid.
He was in a memory care unit. 2 of my siblings and I were with him every day. They said he was calmer and happier when we were there.
Dad tested positive on Monday before Christmas. He was fully vaccinated so symptoms were mild, like a cold.
KN95 masks, changing clothes, showering were the norm after visiting him since he really struggled when alone. But it was already too late. We all tested positive that night.
Dad died 2 days later, right before Christmas.
@CalminHeart I am so sorry you lost your dad.. Espeically right before Christmas!

. I'm sorry about your dad. My mom had covid for the first time in January. She will be 92 next week. We were very fearful for her because she became very sick. She did take the Paxlovid. It took weeks for her to regain her energy. She was lucky , she's doing very well now.

I think of you when I watch every day the Greenville Zoo giraffe cam-Miles, the dad-so cute-he loves people attention and always goes over to greet the humans; Autumn, the mom, so graceful, and Blossom-their growing "little" one so playful and curious.
Maybe something to pass the time or help you fall asleep
. I enjoyed the Greenville Zoo Giraffes myself. We were in Greenville for a concert at the Peace Center and decided to go to the zoo. It was a beautiful warm day.
