Well, it took 5 years, but….

I have Covid.  My first time.

I woke up in the middle of the night (not unusual for me, I don't sleep well) Tuesday night and I was like "what is going on here". Massive sinus pain, one side only, horrible headache.  And major league chills.

I figured it was a cold (an out of nowhere cold) or maybe a sinus infection.  I just rested and drank a lot of fluids Wednesday. On a whim, I took a home Covid test late Wednesday afternoon and it was positive.

I talked to my doctor's nurse yesterday morning.  I decided against Paxlovid as yesterday I was no worse.  And early yesterday evening I felt marginally better. The chills were minimal yesterday.

I woke up a few hours ago, just before 3 AM and the chills are back.  Not horrible, but I'm so cold.  I just took a Tylenol.

Anyway, I know posters (one specifically) are going to respond here and say "it's just a cold". I don't know. I'm feeling pretty rough. It certainly has many cold like symptoms but it's the chills. So intense. It does feel like a severe cold, but then it doesn't feel like a cold if that makes any sense.

After yesterday, I was hoping this would be a pretty brief illness for me and still hope it is, but no feeling so great right now as I write this at 4:30 AM.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Geez, hope you feel better soon. Just make sure you stay hydrated. It's for sure this will never go away, just like the flu. Take care and keep rested.

@catter70 - thanks. If I could just get some sleep. I am a horrible sleeper any time, but I'm trying to get some good rest and I just can't sleep.  I was freezing awhile ago, piled under blankets. And now I'm so hot.

Whine, whine, whine. LOL.  Maybe some sleep will come in a few hours.

I've never taken a covid test. So if I had it I never knew. Just another virus.

Hope you feel better soon.  My daughter just had it last week.  She had a rough couple of days.  It took her a good week to feel better.  She also had really, really bad chills and an intense headache.

@Cookie2025 - what does "NO!" Mean?

Just a suggestion - is it too late to get Paxlovid?  What do you have to lose?

No, COVID is not like a bad cold.  It is serious.  I feel very badly for what you are enduring.  The symptoms of this virus can be very different for everyone.

Perhaps your doctor can recommend something to take to help with your symptoms.  I really do not know, but I would ask.

Please take care, and I truly hope you will be better soon.

Despite being vaxxed, I got COVID for the first time several weeks ago.  And I have prided myself about being so careful!

My treatment was geared to my age (80) and underlying issues.  Yup, and I have survived, but sure glad it is over!!!
