Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Congratulations on your new job, @nomless.  Yeah, it's hard to want to workout when you are physically busy at work all day.  I remember well.

I did a flexibility class today then walked 2 1/2 miles this morning.  Tuesday has a 6 pm line dancing class that I like but had only been once because I hate to go back in the evening.  I went this evening and we had such fun.  The instructor (we call him the energizer bunny) makes the class such fun!   I've got 18,444 steps on my Fitbit today!  And I didn't even put it on til ten this morning.

@Laura14, what is Power and Pound?  Weight training?

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Welcome Mmsfoxxie!  Glad you enjoyed your class so well.

nomless...sounds like you are getting quite the work-out in while getting paid for it...lol!  So happy you found this, seems like a really good fit.

Hope your flight went well bopper!

We had a great time in PA for the Birthday celebration...meal was delicious again.  Very busy though...dogs had ear infections starting so to the vet for more ear meds, son's car to the shop, dil had a soccer game(she coaches), kids had a costume party Saturday night they went to, son had a video project he had to do for school plus other homework, etc...so it went by quickly and we left Sunday morning so he could do his homework.  It was a beautiful drive but 4 hours kills my sciatica.

DH flew out for Australia yesterday...16-hour flight from San Fran, then a 2.5 hour drive to hotel.  He was dreading it.

We got in a good hike yesterday, lots of hills and covered some ground.  Day before I ran(2 miles of intervals), rode my bike 25 while talking to my gf, and did weights and I was sore...had to detox from the weekend..lol.  Today is still up in the air but have to do legs.

Laura...I'm doing the same thing as far as trying new things...joined the running group and a book club.  Also looking at somthing else but not sure I want to make the commitment and it's farther than I wanted to drive.

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

I forgot to type the reason I came here in the first place...haha...duh!!  I got my sheets yesterday, they're washed and on my bed.  However, they had fluff balls on them out of the dryer...my other ones never did that before so I hope it goes aways after a couple of washes.

I love the sea-glass color but I have to admit, I think the cheaper ones I got at Costco are a little better quality.  Not a huge difference, but enough that I'm sending the ivory back and just kept the sea-glass.  Plus they take up so darn much room in your linen closet.  I cleaned mine out yestserday and got rid of sheets I don't use.

Okay, carry on. Smiley Tongue

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

@nomless  Yay for day two!!  You are making me so jealous.  I miss a good job and great boss.

@Mmsfoxxie  Congrats!!  I don't think I ever made it that far with my Fitbit.  You are doing some stepping!  Pound class is a routine that concentrates primarily on legs and abs.  You have drum sticks that you hit during the routine which is fun but sometimes I do some sections without because it's annoying.  I think they have videos of it on youtube.  Power is a weight training class with a bar and dumbbells.   It's right after Pound so I just kill the two with one stone on Tuesdays.

@Iluvlucy  I'm sorry Lucy is sick again and I hope your husband had safe travels down under.  I don't put my sheets in the dryer and I've had no issue with pilling.  I also wash them alone so maybe that will help if you decide to keep them?   Glad to have a partner in the let's see what else is out there trip.  I am in definite need and shaking things up or actually quieting them down.  Too much stress!

[ Edited ]

Laura...I always wash my sheets separately...I'm OCD about my laundry...lol.  This is my 4th set and didn't do anything different....didn't have trouble with the last 3 so this was unusual.

It was the Grandpups...not Lucy...they get those fungus ear infections(our Schnauzer used to get them after a bath) and were almost out of the Otimax or whatever it's called.

I'm having quite the allergic reaction today!  Took the Clarinex that makes me hurt and ache so bad, doesn't seem to be helping.  Took Benedryl at 4 this morning....and before I went to bed.

Walked/jogged Lucy then did weights and Pilates...I really pushed myself.  This may be my life from here on out(hives, swelling, itching, and burning) so I'd never work-out if I took off when I didn't feel good.  It's either this or I take the Clarinex and then the pain is so bad and I'm so stiff, I practically feel crippled and I"m not exaggerating.

Have a great day everyone! Smiley Tongue

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

I don't like this new forum because we can't see all the posts when we respond. By the time I get logged in, I forget what I was going to comment on.

Roscoe, how cool that you have a fun class to go to. Too bad it's at a bad time for you. You're doing great with your Fitbit!

Lucy, I'm sorry you have such a hard time with you ailments. I'm super proud of you for ignoring it as much as you can. Sorry also that your new sheets are shedding. 😞

Laura.....I forgot what you posted about. Sorry, not trying to be rude.

Today's my day off. I started to go do a workout, but on the way I decided I'm too tired. Muscles are aching and need a rest. I think a hot bath is in order. ☺

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

I was Hercules!!  Not sure what happened in Power class today but I was throwing my increased weight factors around like no one's business.  With the exception of the shoulder track which is the last one of the day, I was a muscle pumping machine.  Smiley LOL  Arnold, stand back!

Not as big a performance in Ride class but I was pretty honest.  I can tell aspirin may be in my future tonight but I haven't had such a good workout in Power in a long time.

I am here to pump you up.  Have a great Thursday!

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Laura, good job in Power. It's such a great feeling when we're in the groove.

Boy, am I tired! Being a lifelong Cubs fan, Wed night I was up late watching the game, the interviews, the celebration and then I was so keyed up I couldn't sleep. I can hardly believe they won. When they were down 3 games to 1, I didn't think they could win 3 straight. Game 7 was sure a nail biter. They're such a fun team now. Great guys on the team thanks to Ricketts and Epstein. Can'the wait for spring training!

Yesterday work was again difficult because my trainer was not available to work with me on the catalog system, so it was another day of shelving books. I don'the mind doing that, I even enjoy it, but 5 hours of it is a lot of work. I don't have a fitbit, but I'll look for my pedometer as I'm curious about how many steps I get in.

Bopper, thinking of you. I hope you're having a fun happy week.

HI, Lucy, I hope you're doing ok. Don't get lost in the woods!

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

Happy Saturday to all. Enjoy your weekend. Bopper, enjoy the wedding!

Yeaterday was a better day at work in that I finally did some sit-down work with the catalog system. Still, I'm pooped today. So, one week down - and I think I'll love this job. My boss is terrific - after working with her for a week, I like her as much as I did in the interview. Yesterday, I also had opportunity to chitchat with a couple of the other aides. All the people I've encountered are very nice, casual, open. Much different from Sales people I've worked with in the past. I like there's no dead time, there's always something to do. And I don't mind shelving books....it gets a bit old after doing it for hours, but there's satisfaction in creating order and getting books where they need to be. Previously I had a part-time job that I hated and dreaded gping to, and then anothervthatvI didn't dread but I didn't particularly enjoy. I think I'll like this one. I can't think of anything I'd rather be doing. That's a good sign I've found the right job. They offer classes for the aides to help them become clerks, so down the road, I may take advantage of that. I kind of think I've found a new home. 😃

I'm going to play today ... spending the day with a friend. Tomorrow will be groceries and chores. I haven't figured out a new workout schedule, but I'm not going to beat myself up about that. I'll get going again soon.

Re: Welcome to the November Exercise Thread

@nomless, it's always to like your job if you have to work but even more important to like your boss and coworkers.  Retirement is nice but to be honest, I felt more financially stable when I was working.  My pension is one of the ones that's not considered stable.

I went to a funeral yesterday and believe it or not, I missed not being able to exercise.  It was a very long day with th funeral and helping out at the repass.  When I got home, the bed is all I wanted.

As you all know, at repasses, there is a lot of food.  I didn't eat much then but today, I went at it, lol.  There was so much food that everyone brought loads of stuff home.  Three desserts...banana pudding, caramel cake and red velvet cake.  Hubby made be bring it home, lol.  Oh, I forgot there was peach cobbler, too.  I'm done with it, though.

I went to my fitness center and walked two plus miles and decided that was enough to counter any guilt that I was having.
