Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

Hey everyone, it's cooler today 50 but not to bad.   I did over an hour on Pilates today, finding new moves and loving it still.  Will walk later.

Nomless I never have news either but just say hi, I also enjoy reading the posts.  Glad you like the necklace.

foxxie after your post about the lady telling you to walk straighter I keep that in my head as I walk.  I think we all tend to look down when we walk but now I'm pulliing my shoulders back and elongating myself and walking straighter I think.  It's good for everyone of us to correct our posutre.  Pilates is helping me with that too.

MickD your still getting it done.   Have you found any ticks on your dogs?   They are bad.  Gave Logan another treatment last night.

Lucy are you okay, missing you!  You need to come and liven up this thread!   Always a story to tell.  I think you could seriously write a book!   We'd all read it too!

Guess I'll have some lunch, enjoy the day everyone!  Be Blessed~

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

@nomless, you have just as much news as the rest of us, lol.  The weather, shopping sprees, what your day has been like, workouts, if any.  And most important....sharing our aches and pains, lol.

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

@Mmsfoxxie, I thought of you when I was working today. A coworker is either pregnant or is just gaining weight. I haven't heard a pregnancy announcement, and I'm sure not going to ask her, lol. Time will reveal which it is.

Once I was asked if I was pregnant. Um, no, just fat and tired, I responded.  The person who asked me felt like crawling into a hole, lol. I wasn't offended, I knew I looked terrible.

@nomless, 'just fat and tired', lol.  I feel your pain.  Nooooo, don't ask her.

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

Greetings, all.  @DrKelli, Zumba Strong sounds beyond me, lol.  I going to look this up, sounds interesting.

Yeah, @bopper, that lady gave me the best advice of the year.  Since then, I think I'm doing much better.  As I walk, I still find myself looking down sometimes but as soon as I remember what she said, back up the head goes and the shoulders go back.  So 75% or so of the time I'm conscious of my posture versus maybe 30% before.

Yesterday was chilly but sunny and today is supposed to be even better.  Still jacket weather but that's ok.

I can't remember if I told you guys about ComEd digging holes in the neighborhood to put down cable wires.  Well, I have two holes in my front yard and one in the back through my rock garden.  Not happy but what can I do about progress.  In the spring, my grass, especially the front is beautiful.  We get it mowed weekly and TruGreen comes once a month.  By the end of August, it doesn't look as good so I wish they had waited.

Looks like this will be done in two steps.  Now that the holes are dug they are just sitting there looking horrible.  Who knows when they will do the actual work.  And how are they going to upkeep this?  Dig everytime there is a problem.  Ugh.

Cardio this morning and maybe a walk.  Have a great day.

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

@Mmsfoxxie, Zumba Strong may be beyond me too!  I have the basic 2 class tomorrow (different rythms--samba, flamenco, bollywood and something else).  I'm a bit disappointed because I really wanted a certain instructor and now we have a substitute. boo.  I'm sure she will be good though.

I'm probably going to be really lazy at the gym today. I'm talking treadmill at 3 mph.  I need to check in to the gym at least 12 times a month to get my reimbursement from my insurance company, so I may walk down there, check in and walk back.  LOL!

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

@DrKelli, I'm with you on having subs.  Mainly because the expectation usually is not fulfilled.  There was a sub for a cardio class of mine a few weeks ago.  I only did half of the class because she didn't do cardio.  She did what she does in her own class which is what she calls dance movements.  Broadway, slow movements like in a warm up.  Had I come in expecting that...ok.  But I had expected energized, sweat producing movements.  More than one of us left the class.

Hope you did well in the gym.

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

I literally did the laziest workout ever.  Walked 1.5 miles in less than 30 minutes, so I got credit for going to the gym (if I go 12 times a month, I get $20 back, which is about 1/2 my monthly dues).  I don't feel bad at all because I will be doing 8 hours of Zumba tomorrow.  It's not literally 8 hours, they usually set it up as an hour master class and then lecture/practice the rest of the day.

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

Lazy workouts are good, too, DrKelli. An active rest day for you. Have fun at your long Zumba day today. It sounds fun.

Last night I had dinner with a high school friend and her DH who live far away but who passed through my city on their way to another city far away. We were best friends in HS but lost contact for decades. We found each other again a few years ago, so cool. Now we get together every year or so and remain in contact via email. It's great to have her back on my life again.

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

Oh, how great that is @nomless.  I wish that I could do that.  I barely remember anyone from high school.  I was quiet and didn't have close friends.  Very introverted.  Am I the only one that wishes I could redo my life, lol.

Getting ready to go to my Zumba class.  Enjoy the weekend everyone.
