Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

Good morning everyone.  I'm trying to make it a good morning anyway. It's getting harder and harder to be a senior and live above the poverty level, lol.  If seniors healthcare goes up three to four times what it is now because of some senior tax plus penalized for pre existing conditions , being lower middle class as hubby and I are, things will be tight.  Let's hope when things are finalized in the senate, there is a life jackets.  I have private insurance and Medicare but I don't think it will matter much.  Enough about that.  I'm Debbie Downer today.

@Iluvlucy, except for your allergies, you must be the healthiest person on earth, lol.  Sounds like your Fitbit not only wasn't charged but got confused with time zones maybe.  It was very eye opening for me when I saw a visual of my sleep patterns on that thing.  Two hours one night, three and a half another night.  Light sleep, not deep sleep for the most part.  I can't remember the last time I slaps seven hours.  And yes, I'm drowsy during the day.  When I come home from working out, I'm drained.

I mentioned a couple of months ago that I was interested in the women's social group Red Hatters.  Well, I joined and I'm having lunch with a few ladies on the 18th.  We talked about the convention to be held in New Orleans next year and I was encouraged to register and start paying on it now.  Glad I didn't, lol, might not be able to afford such a trip.  Don't know what kind of budget I'll be working with.  But I should be able to enjoy local outings every now and again like lunch.  There's a three day outing in June.  Socializing is every important when you retire.  Keeps you healthier.

Walking and my cardio class today.  Enjoy your day.

Awww, @Mmsfoxxie, I'm sorry you're worried. I do think it's way too soon to guess or worry about what health care costs will be. No doubt there will be many changes to the current bill before anything is finalized. I don't think anyone is out to harm seniors financially or health wise. We're a big voting bloc and they need our votes, so I think effort will be made to be sure that seniors aren't dumped on or disregarde

Glad you found a Red Hat group. I hope you enjoy the ladies in the group.

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

My library diet was successful, lol. Although I haven't lost any more in the past month or so, what I did lose has stayed off. This morning I at looked at my record of where I was at last year's pjysical, and I'm 5 pounds down from that. Yay! Will try to lose a bit more before my appt next month.

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

Hey all and Happy Friday, it's still cold here, we are way below the avg. high for this time of year.  43 is cold and it's windy.  We don't even have leaves yet, poor little buds I'm afraid will freeze.  So we are still wearing winter coats and hats here.  No flip flops for me yet!

I did an hour on the reformer this morning, and I feel like I have a little cold, scratchy throat and tad runny nose, sneezing...no it isn't allergies I know that as I don't have them thank goodness, but this too shall pass.  I loaded up on OJ and Vit. C, drinking lots of water.

Foxxie I understand your worries.  Trust me we  (hubby and myself) are probably living at poverty level too.  I try not to focus too much on it as there are many much worse off than me.  But yes it's a concern.  Our health insurance is so high I can't even go there, and we don't have any prescription coverage, eye glass, dental, so it's hard. Glad your are now in Red Hatters, hope you meet some great friends there.

Nomless glad your feet are better, that dr. visit did the trick and your weight loss is a huge Congratulations.   I told you at my Dr. appt.  I was 17 pounds down from last year and she didnt' say anything!!  I was disappointed about that but it is what it is.

Lucy you asked how to see what others have said.  Under this box your typing in it says "view discussion in popup".  Click that on and it opens a new page where you have to go back and forth between 2 pages but you can see what someone says so you don't forget.  It's a pain but I try and do that.  It's hard to always comment on what everyone says too and I don't think anybody feels left out, we all do it.

Well better take my boy outside, have a great day!

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

@bopper, that's exactly how my plague started, so be careful.  The first few days weren't bad, but then last Friday--BOOM!  I hope you feel better.

@Mmsfoxxie and bopper--I share your concern about the whole insurance thing.  I still get good insurance through my employer, but as I understand it, this terrible bill basically guts any employer responsibility to provide insurance.  I loathe these people in Congress.  They're so bent on getting another bill passed just so they can get rid of the one with the previous President's name on it.  It doesn't affect them at all, but it sure affects many of the people who voted them in.  I pray it stalls out in the Senate again.

It is beautiful here today--almost 80 right now.  I hope you all have a good weekend.

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

Morning all,  the sunrise is beautiful this morning.  I'm excited to watch the Kentucky Derby later today.

Dr.Kelli thanks, I feel better today so maybe just the sniffles.  I usually don't get colds that last very long, netti pot and OJ work for me!

I'll be doing Pilates today and a walk.  It's chilly though and I see frost.   They said it will be cold and windy today.  We're running like 15 degrees below normal and even through next week they are saying.

Watching AM style now and sipping on my coffee.  So nice just sitting looking out the window at the blue skies and sunrise.  Peaceful!

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

Happy Saturday!

We had some crazy storms yesterday morning with flooding, lots of damage with some areas seeing 70-mph winds. Kids may get snow this weekend and I know parts of NY state are. My gf that's in HI texted me last night and said they're too hot there which is unusual this time of year for them.  She wanted to know if she could call me...um, it was a little late and we were watching a movie...she forgot about the 6-hour time difference...lol.

Okay bopper, I did the pop-up but don't see the other posts!  I'm afraid to leave here, that I'll lose my post.  Glad you're feeling better.

I sure had a rough night...I'll spare you the details but I'm glad that's over...lol!  Hope you got some sleep Mssfoxxie, that can wear on you. Those darn steroids about did me in!

Not sure what today holds, other than a hike, work-out, and looking at more homes...ugh.  Sure wish we lived there, so hard searching from another state. The kids are touring one for us tomorrow.

The yard is way too large(I don't mind acres if a lot of it is wooded, but the kids could build a home on it in a few years so that would be a plus in the future), the driveway is both huge and long, and there is a pool(which I'd rather not have).  However, the yard is flat(extremely hard to find there), it's a ranch(again, very hard to find there), it backs up to a state park( which is heaven for me), it's all fenced-in with black wrought iron(not many are and it will at least keep out the large animals for Lucy) and the pool is salt-water(which is easier to take care of and would be nice for entertaining, and cross-training we well as jumping in after a hot run or long bike ride).  But still...the yard-work alone will be a nightmare...and that driveway.  We'd have to get a riding lawn-mower and a snow-blower, but it would still take hours upon hours.  And daily pool maintenance...ugh, so hard to know what to do.  If it wasn't for the park and it being a ranch on flat land, I'd say "no" for sure.

Chores are done, high's of 50's, and no sun so I guess we'll head out...a few sprinkles but nothing like yesterday.  Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. <3

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

Good beautiful Saturday morning everyone.  Had a hard time signing in this morning.  Had me going in circles, lol.

@bopper, I was sitting and relaxing with my coffee, too.  One of life's little pleasures.

Thanks everyone for the uplifting words yesterday.  The picture is less bleak this morning. We're all in this world together and most of us have the same issues, just maybe not to the same degree.  I have five sisters and I am the only one that's a worry wort, lol.  The one that is the most poor, worries the least.  She holds on to her faith that everything will work out.  Quite often that entails us, her sisters, unexpectedly sending her funds.

@bopper, I finally saw that 'View discussion in a pop up' and it came in handy but I couldn't figure out how to get back to my post other that to go to my saved auto draft.  Is that how you get back to your post.

@Iluvlucy, to back to your post, go to your profile and on the left side, down a little ways, you'll see the post you were writing.

Zumba this morning!  Enjoy.

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

Foxxie if you click on View discussion in a popup, a new tab opens up top, like a new page.  It's above the address bar.  All I do is go between the 2 tabs.  I can type on my tab in this box, and then go to the other tab and scroll down to see what the other folks have said, then go back to my tab, and type.  Does that make sense?   I don't even know anything about auto draft!!  I'm not to computer literate!  LOL

Re: Welcome to the May Exercise Thread

Happy Saturday everyone!  I did 2.5 mi/32 min on the treadmill.  Still cleaning...did 5 hours in the kitchen yesterday.

@Iluvlucy I woke one morning and I had nerve pain on the top of my left foot.  Couldn't walk on it for about 6 months.  I have had trouble with lower back and sciatica down the left back thigh....and would cross in front at the knee.....for years.  I started long distance running when I was 16....so it caught up with me ... No more 8 min miles and 50 mi/wk!
