Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

Hi everyone!!  Oh my word, the past 8 days have been crazy...lol!  Big surprise in this family. Smiley Tongue

Not ever sure where to start...we went to PA last Friday for that race...ds got his infusion at noon, by that night he was sick(suppresses your immune system and he's on 3 immunosuppressants, not just the infusion) so that's always a huge concern with those patients as it can go from a cold to pneumonia within a few hours.  Poor kid trying to work and do Grad school with all the papers, tests, videos, and reading...he's been exhausted.  So that's been a cloud over my head all week.

Then DH got to mile 2.5 at the 5K and boing...tore his calf.  Almost went down, stopped and rubbed it for a couple of minutes to see if he could even walk....then hobbled the last half mile to the finish line trying to only use one leg.  He still did it in 28 minutes but would have had a 25 if the calf wouldn't have torn.  Not bad for someone that hasn't worked out much for 6 months because of his back.  Anyway, that's still bothering him which is making his back hurt again.

Then we found 2 ticks on Lucy while in Pa so was at vet's office Monday morning.  Long story short, one tested positive for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever so she's on Doxycycline now.  I was sick to my stomach over this.  But we live in Tick Central with all the deer here and she'd live on the trails if she could, so what can you do.  The Phd at the lab said this area has had the most Lyme and different tick diseases of any place in the country so far in 2017 so we had to pay for a bunch of tests...$400.

And we had a horrible experience at the vet trying to get blood out of her neck.  Not happening.  But the vet tech choked her while trying to hold her down and broke blood vessels in her eye and she has a bruise on her neck.  That's still an issue I'm dealing with...I was out of my mind.  They never got the blood...said she's the strongest dog they've ever seen...all 4.6 lbs of her.

That afternoon, I go hiking with my gf to try and relax and let everything go.  I cross a creek and she is right behind me...I told her to step on the rocks I used.  Next thing I know I hear all this shuffling and she's going down.  And I mean she fell hard...on the rocks.  Split her knee open amongst other things...scared me so bad, she didn't move at first and I thought she knocked herself out just laying there in the creek.

Anyway...she wouldn't let me take her to the ER for stitches that day, calls me the next morning that she needs to go in for stitches because it keeps ripping open and bleeding all over...so I drove her in Tuesday morning and sat in the Petri dish.

Thursday we went to Richmond Va to see the Specialist at VCU that the Mayo clinic suggested to me.  I was diagnosed with Mast Cell Disease.  This is too long as it is so won't get into all that as this alone could be a book.  Going to try a shot once a month...I'll go to a specialist up here for that as it has to be in a hospital and you have to wait for 2 hours after the shot.  Have to find new doctors in PA too...he gave me instructions to give to ER...wants me to go there now(when not an ER) and get it all set up so they're ready for me next time I have an episode.  He said when my blood pressure dropped to 50 over 36, I'm lucky I didn't die as that is what those with MCD tend to die from(causes you to flush and your blood pressure plummets).

Believe it or not, there's more but I'm sure if anyone has read this far, you've had enough...haha!  What can I say, it's my life.  Lucy was a psycho at the hotel yesterday morning, I mean she acted a fool...think she'd had enough of the traveling and was tired.   She's like a 2-year old, if she doesn't get a nap...look out!  Then drove home in rain, sleet, snow, and ice....again.

Work-outs?  Of course. Smiley Wink  But who cares after all this...lol.  Hope you're all doing well and having a good weekend!

OMG, @Iluvlucy!  Your plate has been overflowing!  And not in a good way.  I hope your son, hubby, gf and you are on the mend.  I can't imagine all of that happening in my life all at once.  I admire your fortitude.  Sounds like that vet was a little rough with poor Lucy.

It's your son and you that seem to be going through the roughest time.  So glad that you are able to keep a positive attitude about everything.

Well, I can't think of anything worth saying after reading all that you've been through.  I'm keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.  I hope that 'talking' about things released some of your stress.

Oh....good morning to everyone reading.  Enjoy your weekend.

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

OMG, Lucy, what a week you had!! Prayers and good wishes for you and all family and friends who are in need, including Lucy. I sure hope things are on the mend for all. I wish you all the best as you manage the mast cell thing. Scary that you BP drops so low so quickly. Hugs for you.

Mick, I hope the new contacts work out better.

Foxxie, good wishes for you, too. Hope things are ok there.

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

Trail walk and jog with DH and the dogs....omg we are all out of shape!

@Iluvlucy HOLY SH*T!!!!!! I am exhausted just reading .......prayers to you and your family. I am glad that you have a diagnosis so now it can be treated and managed......??????  I would have killed that vet tech.....no excuse. My aunt who has lived in the DC area for decades....she has MS...anyway she had additional symptoms...unrelated to MS found out a few years ago she has Lyme's disease too.....  Here in CA when the ticks get bad we up the dog's frontline by a week.....I don't know if your little fur baby could handle that.....

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

Hello everyone.  I didn't do anything today.  I was relaxing here alone cause my husband went on a couple of days trip to see his daughter in North Carolina.  She just had a baby.

He called me this morning at the airport getting ready to come home.  He can't find his keys.  He asked me to check for his spare.  Well,  I  found his burglar alarm thingy but no key.  If I had found a key, I couldn't get it to him.

One of my shortcomings is that I can't drive to Ohare Airport.  Scared to death not to mention the route is confusing and the traffic is very congested.  It's about an hour and a half long drive.   And when you get there, finding a parking spot is a nightmare.  When he started the trip, he called me complaining about how long he had been driving around looking for a parking spot.

So, I just talked to him and the hope that the keys were locked in the car is gone.  He has no idea where he lost them.  A funny story:  when we got married in 2006, he realized his keys were missing while we were honeymooning.  He looked everywhere.  Two years later, I found them in his carry on bag.  They had slipped into the lining, lol.

Right now he's still waiting for a tow truck to bring him and the car home.   He's been waiting a couple of hours already.  Hopefully he was able to use the AAA road service card.  I guess even if I could drive to the airport, the car would still have to be towed.  Glad he took the credit card with him, too, just in case.

I don't know if this goes under the category of memory loss or carelessness.  He takes a medication for his memory which is why I wonder.

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

nomless..how is Coco?  I saw the huge Richmond library and thought of you.

Mmsfoxxie....oh dear....did dh home safely?  They have those key-chain alarms...lol.

bopper...I read dh was at the "animal" builders show...haha....I was trying to figure out maybe wood carving??! Smiley Tongue

Happy Monday!  Hope everyone had a nice weekend...I did some shopping and errands.  We're getting a winter storm tonight...but I think we'll only get 10-inches tops.  On different models they're saying it could be more.  But it's supposed to be that heavy, wet snow with 25 mph winds so lots of power outages and downed trees are expected.

I'm fine..thank-you!  Hope I didn't sound dramatic..it really is what all happened and there was even more I left out...ay...lol! Smiley Tongue  Have to laugh about it, what else can you do!

Really, just knowing is half the battle and I can handle about anything when it comes to me...now my son being sick...whole different ballgame.  That's the one thing in life that stresses me out and breaks my heart beyond belief.  He told me "you're never going to feel your old "good" again...I haven't felt "good" in 9 years, it's just going to be your new norm so get used to it and make the best of it". I hate that he has to deal with this the rest of his life and has for so long.  He's never made 1 fb post about it, doens't talk about it, complain, nothing...just deals with it and pushes through.

I need to do more research on the drugs and the shot they want me to take(that's one thing we were talking about, he looked it up at work on their pharmacy site)...the side-effects are not good and if it's going to make my joints and muscles ache all the time like I have arthritis...ugh, I'm not sure what to do.  Looks like the other ones they take for MCD are more chemo based though...no good options.

Yesterday morning on our route we saw 2 huge hawks throwing down...it was quite a battle in the sky.  We ran across the golf course to try and get some good photos but they were pretty much done by then and flew to separate trees.

Worked out with dh this morning...going with my one gf then my other one later.  We're up to 19* and hope it doesn't get much warmer...they said the warmer we get today, the more ice we'll have tonight with the snow.

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

Good morning everyone.  Well, all is well that ends well....I guess, lol.  Hubby made it home in one piece with the car.  He rode with the tow truck driver.  His mood wasn't too bad, considering.  He was right....that was an extra key that was in the drawer.  A retractable key.

But even if I knew, there was no way for me to get to Ohare Airport in Chicago in one piece and still have my sanity.  Every time we have went there, I'd tell my husband that there was no way I could do it.  When I was single I went on a couple of trips and I parked my car at one of those transportation companies that take you to the airport and drop you off at your terminal.  No hassle.  Actually, I had suggested that very thing to my husband before he left.

It snowed last night but not the five or six inches predicted.  It's supposed to start up again this afternoon and snow until Tuesday night or evening.  Oh, joy!  Not.  I might get to use that shovel that I bought from QVC in December.  I'd better love it because it's too late to turn it back, lol.  Unfortunately, it's still snowing in Chicago (next to me) especially the north side.

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

Good Monday Morning, this morning I did 30 minutes rebounding on the reformer and 35 toning.   I don't think I have missed a day since I got it.  I really like it and already see a change in my body!

Well the builders show I think was successful for hubby.  Many people stopped by his booth and inquired about things so as long as you keep your business out there people are aware of what you have.

Lucy for once we are not getting the snow storm.....it's 24 here right now and partly sunny and then it will be snowing lightly.  Logan still would prefer the cold with his heavy coat.  I need to call and get him in for his distemper shot.  Better do that now.  Those side effects from the shot don't sound great either, sure hard to know what to do, because it doesn't mean you'll have the side effects either.  Lotsof praying...

Foxxie glad hubby got home, that in itself is stressful but I don't blame you for not driving to O'Hare either.   I'd be nervous about that!

I've been watching the World Baseball Classic, and am anxious for the regular season to begin finally with DS being a Major League Umpire now!   So proud of him for all his hard work has paid off!    It's not a picnic living out of a suitcase for 7 months but he loves his job and it was his dream job so not many can say they are living "their dream"...

I have my GD tonight and then again tomorrow afternoon and night.   She's such a daddy's girl.   When he leaves her crocodile tears start, but I distract her with something and she stops pretty fast.  Same when mommy leaves...

Well I better make that call to the vet and get that scheduled.  Have a great day everyone!

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Thread

Foxxie, glad DH and his car got home ok. Totally understand your refusal to deal with driving to O'Hare.

Lucy, Coco seems good. Thanks for asking. I figured out an easy way to pill her. She gets dental treats in the morning which she loves. The Pill Pockets are the same size and color. So when I'm giving her treats one by one, I sneak in the pill pocket. She's so joyful about the series of treats she's getting, she hasn't noticed the pill pocket is different. She eats it eagerly. If I try to give her the pill pocket on its own, she finds the pill in it and spits it out. Have two more days of pulling to go.

Bopper, yay for DS making it to the majors. Awesome!
