Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

Good morning, everybody!  I hope your holiday was great.  We didn't do anything special.

I guess I had TOO much much doing my exercise classes yesterday. As the day went on, my right knee, the worst of the two, became stiffer and stiffer as the day went on.  I shouldn't have done that last class (Zumba) because that instructor is a maniac on the floor and I love him.  That class is my third one of the day and usually I only do about 20 minutes of it.  I was hyped up, though, lol, and did almost the whole 45 minutes.  Also, before my classes, I walked the track.  Payback time.  It doesn't pay to do things you know will give you negative returns, right.  Heheheh.

So today I will skip exercising to be able to rise another day.

Doing great with my eating plan but this tracking on the WW phone app seems more work than I want to do.  I'm not one to have my phone out so I don't automatically think to have it with me, out and ready to track everytime I eat.  I'm writing it down with the intent to do it on the phone later.  Yesterday I didn't.  Meant to but didn't.

I'm eating under my thirty points so I have to work on that.  I have 4 oz of wine most evening to help things feel less diet like.

Take care!

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

Foxxie, good job with WW   and it sounds like you brought it to your workouts. Yep, take a rest today and I hope that knee recovers quickly.

I hope everyone had a fun holiday yesterday.

I picked up new glasses on Monday. Oh, my, the expense. I picked very expensive frames, so that's on me, but I also decided to try more expensive digital lenses. So far, I don't think it was worth the expense. Also tried a lens additive that's supposed to help keep the

ended clear, but I don't think that was worth it either because the lenses develop a film that has to be cleaned every few hours. They're worse than my old lenses. I had a heck of a time adjusting to the new lenses and script. Couldn't read anything, near or far. I was certain the script or lens construction was wrong. They told me to hang in there, it would probably get better, and sure enough, it did. About 10 hours later, vision finally started to improve. I've never had a problem woth new lenses before. Sadly, the sharpness of things doesn't seem any better than with my old lenses, so ultimately, I 'm not sure these new glasses were worth the huge exppense. Oh, well, what's done is done. Fortunately, the new ones are more comfortable, so at least there's one tick in the plus column.

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

Good morning, everyone!  Happy July since I haven't been online since last Friday.

I actually took Monday off, so just have a 3 day week.  Which was tough to get up for this morning, thanks to all the people in my neighborhood shooting off fireworks at 11:00 pm last night.  I had been leaving the tv on until midnight or so to cover up the noise so that Kevin (the dog) will sleep in his crate.  Hopefully, everyone used up all their boomers over the last few days.  It is the one thing I really dislike about the 4th.

Last Friday, I went to the gym where my best friend works out and interviewed with them about subbing Zumba there.  The owner and club manager were really nice and seemed very interested.  There was another woman who has some type of management role and she brought up that I have to have a group exercise certification (which technically, the Zumba organization does NOT require) and I told her that i did not have that and she said that I would probably have to have it before I taught there.  It's $300 and I don't know that I want to have to put out that much money to obtain that cert right now.  I ended up taking the zumba class there and while I sweat a lot, the instructor is one that does not face class, so you look at her back the whole time.  I talked to her after class and she said that they really did need a sub there and that she would go to bat for me.  So we'll see what happens.

I am 'official' at my own gym though.  I just finished up the paperwork today, so I can start subbing there when needed.

Yesterday, I went to my best friend's house for a barbeque.  The food was excellent--mostly cooked by her son.

Today is regular quick fit which I'm sure I will regret since I didn't do anything over the weekend.  Tomorrow, we are having a special guest instructor and special class.  Louie Van Amstel will be teaching his LaBlast dance fitness.  It normally costs money, but our Zumba instructor gave us all VIP passes, so we don't have to pay.

Hope you all have a great day!

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

Way to go, @DrKelli! Very cool that you're officially a sub at one place and maybe at another, too! Maybe it would be worth it to go after that c

I hope you enjoy tomorrow's class with Louie. Sounds like a blast!

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

Good morning everybody!  Wow, @nomless I've never heard of such strange glasses....a film on them?  Digital?  Are you sure you have to accept the not being sharp factor.  Do you have cataracts?  You don't sound my age but that's was I was told was the reason for not being able to get good glasses.  I gave up.  I use my readers or an old pair of bifocals once in a while.  And try not to drive at night.  I wasted money on two pairs of glasses before I gave up.

Way to go @DrKelli!  As I said before, how exciting to see Louie instruct!  And I agree with @nomless, it might be worth it to pay that $300 for the certificate.  But first, I'd investigate to make sure that lady was correct.

Yesterday, I rested my knee and it felt much better but last night, I got up to use the bathroom and it hurt to put weight on the right leg because it hurt much more than Tuesday when I over exercised.  (I also wondering if, while dozing off, I had my knee in the wrong position thus causing this unexpected pain).  What makes me angry is that I KNOW not to do certain things but sometimes do them anyway.  That Zumba class was so enjoyable that I kept going.  It wasn't the Zumba per se but the fact that I had done enough already.  Arthritis is funny....you have to exercise but only enough to help it, not hurt it.  Hard head!

I think the need to move more and burn calories motivated me to exercise longer.  Mistake. WW has a walk planned for the 8th and I was considering it but maybe not.

I can't workout today after all but I can't just sit here.  Heck!  I need to not just burn calories but keep my metabolism up.  It is luggish from dieting so often, although, I don't consider WW a diet like some other things I've done.  WW is a lifestyle change.

Today's agenda is to get out of this bed, shower and do chair exercises.  I'm going to play the invalid today, lol.  Have a great day everyone.

@Mmsfoxxie  So sorry to hear about your knee.  I have bad knees and need to be careful also.  Knee pain is awful.  Good for you to do chair exercises!

@DrKelli good for you re the sub classes.  Hope you get the second gym too.

Did a 2 mile LS Walking DVD this morning.  Need to get ready for work.  Have a good day everyone!

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

@nomless I hope you get used to your new glasses so it is worth the expense!  I had a heck of a time with new contacts.  Far vision was spot on, but seeing close up was a disaster.  Now I'm in that happy medium.

@Mmsfoxxie I hope your knee gets better!

@JudyL Great job on the walking miles!

@DrKelli Way to go on being the zumba sub!

Another fire yesterday 1 mile from here and right near the camp pendleton barracks.  It was just outside last week's burn area.  So the area behind our development is still lush and green and ready to go up in smoke....hopefully not.

Happy almost Friday everyone!

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

Dancing with Louis Van Amstel.jpgWell, Here I am!  Class wasn't very crowded (about 20 people) and it was a good sweaty mess! They are having a certification class on the 16th and I was talking with him after the class and my mentor/instructor was there and she introduced the instructors (zumba) to him and was talking about getting the LaBlast format into the clubs and before I left, he said--directly to me--you'll be at the certification class, right?

I guess when Louis asks, you can't really say no.  So I signed up as soon as I got back to the office and will now be able to tell the other gym that I am getting my certification for this format too.
