Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Hi everybody, I sorta was lost for a couple days cos I slept sooo much. Must have been that darn cfs. And terrible fm hit he really hard. I get like that. I hate that when that happens. But in the middle of it I forced myself to get on the gizzele for awhile even if it was a blurr. FUTURE , Good job, your workout will payoff for sure. Hope that cold you caught is better, just what you needed now after all the hard work your putting in excercising and eating healthy. PpprMintPatty, sounds like the soreness is finally almost gone, alleluia. Amen. You've suffered quite a long time, girl. Yikes. I know that p90x is tough stuff. That's good if you can overcome it but it would kill me. So kudos to you if you can do it. Bopper, give yourself a break, there's days even weeks I overdo it and days and weeks I'm good. I've got to get my head on straight and if I don't I've forgiven myself because I've been fighting the excercise and battle of the bulge my entire life. Now that I'm limited as to what and how much I can do it more like " oh well". But I will root everybody here on and some of you have rubbed off on me, so A BIG THANK YOU. All of you have been such great encouragement. CHLOE and I love going on walks when the snow melts. She went out when it was freezing and was crippled up the deck steps so I picked her up, the poor thing Smiley Sad her feet froze. Nomless, so they made a new p90. Don't feel bad about your new dvd nomless and I'll tell you why.......... I got my yoga dvd, to strangthen and balance. Well, for me I probably should have gotten the one for Backs"". I watched the entire dvd and I realize that I've streched with one of my other yoga DVDs and I have to be very careful. Sometimes it backfires and agrivates my body and not like you girls. I have too many things going on. Boy how I wish I could get in a pool. If any of you can or know someone with a pool, just go in one and do excercises in there because the resistance in water is greater and you won't hurt when you get out!" Love that. BLESSINGS hi vonlam, I'm new here. Love to the fur babiesSmiley Happy xoxo

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Hi vonlam...great seeing you again!

maggie...sorry you had a rough couple of days. Hope that is behind you now.

nomless...thanks for prayers. He flies out today and steps off the plane at 10 Tuesday night(their time). I'm glad you like your new dvd's...minus the band/door issue.{#emotions_dlg.unsure}

We just did SS and church yesterday...and pulled stuff out to pack for dh's trip...oh, and a few groceries. We have to hide suitcases until the last minute, can't "pack" things or the animals won't let us sleep. Lucy knows something is up and is VERY clingy.

I looked up our WOD...ugh.{#emotions_dlg.huh} Double-unders, Sotts press, snatch press...I hope it goes by quickly...lol. I noticed my rear-delts were sore yesterday and my butt cheeks a little bit this morning...it's funny how things show up even 24 to 48 hours later and it's muscles you didn't even realize you worked.

It's a new day, we can do this!{#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

I forgot to tell you that they're implementing the new fitness/nutrition program at DH's command. It's basically the same program the NFL uses except geared a little more towards those that go on 100-mile missions in the hillsides of Afghanistan, parachute into the ocean and swim 2 miles to land, and so on...personal trainers, fitness coaches, nutritionists, physical therapists, etc.

Speed, Strength, agility, endurance, cardio, diet, and anything else that pertains to fitness.

All the guys(that are here) are being tested this week at different times(dh is doing his right now), they do a complete break-down with graphs and everything...meet with all the experts, assess and evaluate their strengths, weaknesses, go over form, technique, diet, body fat, exercises, blood-work, etc. Then will do this same testing at different intervals throughout the program to see the increases and gains.

They're all very excited about it and hoping to see over-all improvements across the board.

Wow, Patty, that's really interesting about the fitness assessment. What great feedback they'll get. Good luck with your WOD.

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

I couldn't remember what they called this morning's testing(for dh's work)...it's called a Combine...which I guess is a fancy word for assessment...lol.

So...one of the things they had to do was pull-ups with a 50-lb vest on. As DH swung down off the bar, he caught his elbow on one of the bar-racks(where you put a bar to do squats with)...and nailed it just right.{#emotions_dlg.scared}

They had doctors on hand and they wanted to give him 3 stitches....of course, he had a conference to be at plus is flying out so he told them "I don't have time for that". They slapped some butter-fly bandages on it and a gauze wrap.

You know I'm picturing him getting some weird kind of infection in it on the plane or out in the dirt where he's going!{#emotions_dlg.unsure}

Other than that{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}, he rocked it.{#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

I, on the other hand...well, it's another epsom-salt soak for me.

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Hi, all. It's a sunny but cold day today. Later in the week, it's going to get warm....in the 40's and 50's. That will be nice after this long period of frigid temps.

Over lunch, I went to a sporting goods store and got better door attachers for the band exercises in P90. They were on sale half price, yippee!! I need to dig out my bands that are encased in fabric; that takes away the worry of getting slapping in the eye or face if a band should break. I'm ready to hit Tony's w/o's hard!

Patty, yea that DH rocked it! But so sorry his elbow took it on the chin, so to speak.

Hi, Bopper and Future and Maggie and Tony...hey, Tony, where ya been? Stop in and say hi, girl.

Back to work for me. Have a good afternoon!

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

I think I'm going to pick up some Epsom for after the gym tonight. I have a feeling I'm going to need it. I got very little sleep Saturday, no nap yesterday, and I'm struggling today. It's going to be an early night for me. I'm about to throw a casserole I froze into the oven in a bit, so I can take it out right before I go to the gym, and it'll be ready for him when I get home. Bopper, it got colder as the day went on here. This southern girl is just not cut out for that! Lol! Patty, praying for your hubby, hope he is safe and gets back soon. Nomless, way to keep after it. I have to remember to show up, do my best and forget the rest MOST days!! Maggie, hope you feel better!! Thanks for all of your encouragement. Hope you all have a fabulous day!

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Hi Everyone! I am here! I have been reading posts- sounds like everyone is " enjoying their weather"! We have been cold but not a whole lot of snow- no big storms, YET. And it sounds like everyone is doing well with workouts. bopper- I see you looking at me and I have been doing workouts. My usual- LS, Firm, Chalean, Combat.... I thought I would try something new once the holidays were over but I haven't done that yet. Oh well! I was rooting for your Lions! Way too bad and then I I went with Cowboys and they got a bad call. the refs have been awful. But it's Go Patriots for me! Nomless- you are so happy with your Tony! I hope you end up liking the program. I saw your responses to some of the 21 day comments. Good for you- we all know what we should do and we all need different ways to get there. The last 2 weeks have been busy - our census is up, it's that time of year.Waiting for the flu to hit along with the respiratory babies. Stay with it, stay happy and healthy!

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Tony's first scupt w/o made me sweat. I like the new door anchor I got, and I used a band covered in fabric; it seemed safe. One thing I like about the new program is all the exercises in the workout are different.....unlike P90X in which you do all the exercises again! I always hate that second round. Hi to our Tony, it's good to see you. Yes, I couldn't stay quiet re: 21DF. Wish others wouldn't slam those who feel they need some help and structure. It's ok to need some structure, ya know?

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Muscles are feeling comfortably sore this morning. I love that feeling. Especially quads....there were lots of holding lunges in yesterday's workout. I haven't done lunges in a long time, so I'm not surprised I'm feeling it. I'm going to like being back on a structured program...I do thrive with structure. Tonight will be the P90 cardio w/o. I'll give it a try but am thinking it might be too easy. If so, I'll switch it out for something else. I could do treadmill and bike on cardio days.
