Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Hi, all. It's another cold day here. But sunny.

Tracking shows that my Tony Power90 DVDs arrived at the post office yesterday, so fingers crossed they'll be delivered today. I'm excited....it will be fun to see something new by Tony.

Maggie, I'm the one whose cable dropped a channel....the NBC affiliate is no longer available (for now) because of a fee dispute. It will eventually be resolved.

Future, it's almost the weekend! Enjoy your time with your friends. Maybe you'll get time for a nap, too!

Patty, best wishes that your abs recover quickly. Enjoy your night out.

Hi, Bopper, how ya doing? I know it's cold there....I hope you have sun and not snow.

I did Katami last night. He's one of my faves, too. I always smile when he says "OK, let's make it better." "Better" means harder, LOL. He's so encouraging and optimistic. He gets the work done without yelling and screaming. Nice.

Have a good weekend, everyone.

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Hi everyone, My back was tight today so I did my Pilates Reformer for 30 minutes..I think it helped some but it's still tight.

It's also so cold here and the wind never stops...It's 10 but with the wind it's way below 0. Played outside with Logan for just a while and filled up my bird feeders. Birds are very hungry.

Nomless I can't get the glitter polish off my nails!!! The acetone polish remover won't take it off nor will the non acetone . I mean it's on there, what do you use to take it off? It's too bad about your cable company dropping NBC. I think you can watch it On Demand though. Did you get your dvd's today?

Pppmint sorry your abs are on fire...The epson salt bath sounds good though..I think your turning us all on to that! Hope you get your treadmill soon.

Maggie it's cold everywhere, Spring really needs to hurry up and get here and it's only January {#emotions_dlg.bored}

FUTURE enjoy your dinner out with friends. Can't be outside without sunglasses here because you can hardly open your eyes because of the wind...it's not nice!

Tony hi and waving to you...are you working out still?

Cater hi to you too.

Enjoy the rest of your day everyone!

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Bopper, I use non-acetone remover to get glitter polish off, but I think acetone works faster. Either way, it takes a while, though. Glitter polish is stubborn! I hold a dampened cotton ball on the nail and hold it there a minute or two to give the remover time to penetrate the glitter. An easier way is to dampen a cotton ball with remover, put it on a nail and then wrap with foil (to keep the wet cotton ball on the nail). Leave it on 5 minutes or so; the glitter polish will remove fairly easily at that point. I hope that helps. Stay warm!

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Yea....P90 is here! I also got a DMQ pave saddle ring that fits...I Iove it. I hope Q doesn't ding me for too many returns....my last 4 items had to go back, but this one is a keeper. I also got some things in Dec that were keepers, so I hope I don't get the dreaded letter boy too many returns.

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Morning ladies. nomless, did you try it out??

Oh boy, I had another grueling work out...I'm just glad it's over with and behind me. Today was our first FIT class, CF's version of HIIT. I guess I'll like it eventually...lol.{#emotions_dlg.glare}{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

The warm-up wore us out...lol! It was rounds of broad jump, rowing, push-ups, jumping lunges, and kettle-bell squat swings.

Then the regular work-out was rounds of the following exercises, as many as you could do in a minute, then right on to the next exercise...

WOD:

Wall Ball Throws, (for reps)
Sumo deadlift high-pull, 75/55# (FIT can use KB 70/53#) (for Reps)
Box Jump, 20" (Rx for all or scale or shorter box or plate stack) (Reps)
Push-press, 75/55# (Reps)
Row (for Calories)

Don't worry, I won't show you every day's WOD(work-out of the Day), just thought you might want to see how the FIT class differs from our regular CF WOD's.

Anyway, I survived....my gf had to wait to drive for a while, she was shaking too bad. I will use the Epsom salts again today.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend....sun is out here. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Hi, all!! I ended up lifting shoulders, chest and arms quickly this am, then spin. Then grocery shopping. Came home and made a kale salad for us to have, and tuna for lunch. It was sooooo good! Going out with friends tonight, and I already decided I'm having the tilapia. It looks great! I'm going to take a nap. I have had some late nights and early mornings this week, and I'm dragging a little. Went to bed a little earlier last night bc my throat was starting to hurt, but I think I knocked it out bt the meds and sleep. Patty, I thought of you today bc our gym had a WOD posted on the wall in the area that has CF type equipment. I was doing spin, so I didn't do it, but I might try it sometime! Nomless, hope your p90 is good! You'll have to let us know how you like it. Bopper, thinking of you as I'm freezing my (big) tail off here!! It is just too cold for this girl. I don't like it! Smiley Wink Maggie, hope you have a nice weekend!! You gals stay warm and out of trouble!

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Rest day...yay! I'm going to take Lucy out for a walk after I finish my second cup of coffee.

I'm hardly sore at all so I'm happy about that. My gf has been doing CF for over a year and she still has times where she gets really sore and has to use the salt, but I think I got that initial hump over with.

My poor GF napped and felt like she had the flu all day. I told her she needs to learn to pace herself more, we're not all in the same kind of shape so don't try to keep up with anyone else but yourself.

DH flies to M.E. on Monday, now that they have stepped up the security warning.{#emotions_dlg.glare}{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} I went and bought him some treats and a new travel pillow yesterday...24-hours one way...ugh. Next month he flies to Kentucky and Africa and we are trying to get up and see the kids in between all of this.

maggie...where are you?? Hope you and Chloe aren't in a snowdrift some place!

nomless...did you give the P90 a go?? What do you think?

FUTURE...we had to cancel our dinner out with friends last night because of dh's work, hope you had fun. He's on call 24-7 and they had stuff going on. Anyway, you should try that class, I think you'd love it!

bopper....I do that with spaghetti...lol. I can't eat very much of it and I feel stuffed. I can't eat right after CF, it's too much, have to wait until my stomach goes back to normal. I had that really bad feeling at one point again yesterday and I'm not one that wants/needs to puke or pass out...lol. Just doesn't sound pleasant and I don't think you need to...I paced and it was still tough.Wink

Waving to cater, Tony, and anyone else that drops by.

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Happy New Year everyone.

The whole New Year New You is starting to really weigh in on me. I need to get on the ball. Brush the dust off the TG which hasn't been used since before Thanksgiving. Holidays always seem to throw me off.

Nomless, I was one of those that ordered the 21 day fix. Hope it helps me to get on track with my eating. Wondering if I can use it along with Dr. Ian's Shred. I was having some success with that before stopping.

My biggest problem friends is staying motivated. I have the TG, Treadmill, Elliptical, Pilates machine, Bike and numerous workout DVD's and yet ....... However I do wear my Fitbit everyday {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Any advice and tips would greatly be appreciated. I have accounts with MyFitnessPal, LoseIt and SparkPeople. Need to start using those again. Not sure which is the better app.

I will however do my best to try posting here more often if only to say Hi.

Wish me luck!!

Von

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Hi, Vonlam. I hope you like 21 DF, both the workouts and the eating program. I sure find it helpful. Re: tips: like Tony Horton says, show up, do your best, forget the rest. I find the showing up part to be hardest, but once I do, I'm good for the entire workout. You have equipment and workout options, so at least you don't have to deal with a boredom factor. I find this group helps to keep me motivated. Maybe reading and posting will help you, too. Lots of good wishes to you.

Patty, prayers for DH. Enjoy your day of rest. It's great that you're feeling OK after your stepped-up workouts. You're a machine!

Future, I hope you're feeling better and don't get sick. Hope you can take it easy today.

Hi, Bopper, glad you had a nice evening out for DH birthday.

I like the new P90. I'm glad they re-made it. The old one is very dated...done on a low budget, and it just looks old. This new one is nice and spiffy. As always, timers are shown on screen showing time left for each exercises and for the workout. The exercises are good, basic ones with advice about how to make them harder or easier. A modifier is shown for all. Some exercises require using a band attached to a door...when I do that I can't see the TV, which is a bummer. I'm also not happy with the door anchor I have, so I'll look for something better. Tony is the same old Tony, he hasn't changed a bit. It's kind of nice to get back to basics. I'll try to give this my all for a while.
