Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Hi all,  it's quite mild here today 37 and snow off the roof is melting.

Welcome AsianGal, you off to a great start.  You have all the necessary tools to get to that goal!  Congratulations!

Laura you got a fabulous workout in, do you get sore afterward!  Keep it up!

Nomless I did get it yesterday and I did one of the dvd's today and it was challenging...I"m tall so doing the shoulder presses over your head was hard for me but I have a bad neck too so I sat in the chair to do it and rested my head on the back of my chair.   I think I'm going to get one for myself...I think you'll like it.  I was sweating and I didn't think I would be.   I had to pause it once to readjust the foot straps because some of the exercises you take the bar completely off and only use the straps and band but I liked it a lot.

Patty thinking about all you have going on and don't know how you do it!  Praying for everyone and everything you have coming up!   Lucy makes us smile!

Logan was a snowball magnet today on the trail.  The snow is so sticky and it clings to his fur like velcro.   We stuck to the trail because otherwise he gets way too many snowballs.

Oh nomless I want to watch that Diet show tonight too.  Have to tape the Black List and the new show with J Lo.

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Hi guys.  Done with weights and ready to hit the pavement...going to Rite-Aid to pick-up my Prednisone refill.  Met with specialists, they're looking at one more thing(very rare, lab tech hadn't heard of the blood test before), if that comes back negative, they want me to go to Johns Hopkins.  Very frustrating, they feel terrible for me and said they are very interested in getting to the bottom of it even if they can't do it.  They still feel AI disease, just can't find which one.

My hands are still shaking, can't type.  Got in a lot of miles yesterday, was too sore from the day before to do anything else but made up for that today.  The steroids make me antsy, jittery, and out of sorts....it just helps calm me if that make sense...but not a good energy source, would rather not have it.  Of course, they make you hungry too...and upset stomach, back and forth.

She(Gyno) couldn't do the biopsy yesterday, the polyp is too deep.  So she said I need a D and C....ugh, not with all this other stuff going on.  She said she totally agrees and would wait until after we move for that.  Have to do a special ultra-sound on the 29th.

Glad you're back to normal nomless.  My handstands were much easier this morning as were toes-to-bar and hanging ab crunches even with my sleep issues...I think you just have good days and bad days regardless.  I did even when I was in the best shape of my life.

Thanks bopper!  I hope you don't get that storm that is coming through....I didn't see where all but heard on news the middle of the country could get hammered.

Welcome Asiangal!  You got this!

Laura...double the fun! Smiley Wink  Hope your shoulder is okay, I'm learning to work with mine whether I like it or not.

Okay...I need to go see what is taking dh so long, I'm ready to roll!

@Iluvlucy  My thoughts are with you.  I am also in the middle of a medical thing (nothing like you) but it is absolutely inconvenient and frustrating to deal with something you shouldn't be.  And then have other aggravation as well.  Good for you for plowing through it.

@bopper  I'm sore especially my hurt shoulder.  I took some aspirin for it but I know I ripped something.  I guess at some point if I do what I am suppose to do and really rest it, it'll start to heal but I can't gve up my class.  Stupid I know.  That's why I ordered the Body gym and I am hoping maybe that will help me enough to really cut back in class even more than I already have.

Speaking of my order, the EDD lied.  My Body Gym did not come yesterday.  The post office decided to give it another free hotel night stay so I'm hoping it makes it's way to my porch today.  Fingers crossed.

Tonight I am off to Pound class.  My favorite lately.  Rock on!  Smiley Happy

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Happy Friday everyone,  It's very dreary here, almost raining and foggy...supposed to turn to snow later today.

Patty I hadn't heard about a storm coming.  All they said was light snow through Sunday and then the bottom will drop out and Monday and most of the week highs in the single digits and lows below 0...uggggggg

Sure hope they can figure out something for you..  It's terrible going through all the tests and not getting answers.

Laura your BodyGym will be coming today then.  Our PO always takes 1 extra day to deliver...it's annoying when you know it's sitting there.   I used it yesterday, upper and lower and was not sore at all today.   I got it for my sister but she said I could keep this one and she will try it and if she likes it she'd get one.  That wasn't the original plan but it works for me.   I have a friend who loves Pound class.  We don't have a Pound class here at our YMCA but it sound fun.

I did 21 miles on my Proform bike this morning and then used the BodyGym...I do like it.  My shoulder was hurt also about 3.5 months ago.  I know it's my rotator cuff but It's getting better now.  My Chiro told me it takes a "long" time to heal shoulders but I can tell already it's getting better.

Nomless I wonder if yours will come today?   Glad it's Friday and you can have the weekend off.   Any hits on the jobs?

Ok Waving to all, need to shower and take Logan outside.

Be Well, Be Blessed, and Be Thankful!

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

@bopper  You post such beautiful pictures.  That is such good news about shoulders.  I keep telling myself to just let it rest but it's my dominant arm so it's not easy.  I'll have to try harder.

21 miles?  I think the most I ever did in spin class was 14.  I bow in your presence.  AND Body gym too?  You must be wonder woman.  I applaud you!

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Hello everyone.  Our son and Granddaughter were here for 5 days with their 88 lb. Lab,so it was interesting.  My two dogs don't like other dogs so they were nasty girls to him.  They are 10 lbs and 25lbs and had him so scared. So nice to have my whole family together, rare occasion.

I'm getting over some kind of crazy chest cold virus.  Haven't been walking or anything. Hope to get back to it in the next day or so.

Hope you all have a great weekend.  We're expecting a few inches of snow.  Oh well it's January in their Chicago burbs.

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Wow, so many posts today.  Fun.  I can't remember all to comment on but I'll give it a try.

Hugs, Patty, for all you're going through.

And for you, too, Laura.

Skylark, it sounds like you had quite a time with all the dogs!

Bopper, you scored with the BG.  Yay!  Mine came today but it's still in the box.

The diet show last night was weird.  I wouldn't do any of those nutrition programs.  And exercise?  Hardly any.  I wish they had chosen more traditional programs to compare, but, oh, well.  I was entertained enough to watch the whole show.

No workout for me today because I met with a former boss who wants to hire me part time.  He's negotiating pay with the higher ups.  I really hope this works out so I can put an end to my job dilemma.

Now, off to the job  don't like. Ugh.

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

I came back to tell you guys I forgot to tell you about the eagle that swooped down for Lucy last night!  Then I saw your post nomless which takes precedence...haha!!!  Woo-hoo!!!  Sounds wonderful!!!  Is it close to home...what you're interested in??  Tell us more!  I knew something would come along but I know it's hard when you're the one waiting.

Anyway, we were out walking last evening and we both saw this big bird come flying like it was flying towards us....well, it was a Bald Eagle and It was VERY interested in Lucy...came down pretty darn close, flew right over our heads....it was so cool.  Yes, we picked up Lucy...lol!  Must have been hungry.

Busy day today.  Ugh...I'm wired and I hate it!  I'd rather feel tired, don't care how many miles I'm getting in.  Talked with the Pharmacist about the "heart explosions" and he said splitting up the doses like I am(30 a.m., 20 around noon, and 10 in early evening) will help, but nothing you can really do other than Xanax or something which I'm not there yet.  Have so many weird reactions to meds, I'm afraid to take it.  I mean when you react to anithistamines and Benedryl....anything is possible.

Anyway....good job everyone!  My shoulders are already sore...dh said his chest and bi's are sore...yes, we were together. Smiley LOL

Oh....I agree...stupid show!  We couldn't watch it...bleck.  The PT's drove me up the wall...too far out there and crazy.  Exercise, eat healthy, look at food as fuel...no magic formula.

Patty, how cool to see an eagle up close, but not when it's going after Lucy!!!! Gracious, that's scary.  Good thing you were able to pick her up.

That show...yeah, why not do things like 40 protein / 30 carb / 30 good fat, maybe vegan, paleo, etc.  And for exercise...cardio vs strength vs both.  Stuff like that.  Why all the goofy stuff?   I'm surprised Shaun T signed on, he knows better.

Yay!  Ex-boss got approval to hire me.  What a relief.  24 hours a week, 6 hours on 4 days.  I can juggle which hours and which days as I like.  4.5 miles from home, an easy drive.  Doing what we did at the old company that was closed but without the things that made that job stressful.  I'll be working with him and with another person we worked with before, so it will all be very familiar.  He suggested I work 9 am to 3 pm or thereabouts, so I won't have to get up early, will get home early enough to run errands if necessary and still get a workout in.  Pay is higher than what I would get elsewhere with people who don't know anything about me.  So, yes, it's all good.  Thanks to all of you who have kept me in your thoughts and prayers.

Time for dinner!

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Running late, just wanted to check for the job news nomless.  It sounds soooo nice!!!  Congratulations!!   Wow....this all seemed to work out better than you expected!  Very happy for you gf.   I was surprised Shaun T did it too...no way would I put my name or face to that show.

Done working-out, have to shower and we're heading north to house-hunt.  Have some tours set up with realtors.  Not feeling up to it since I'm so pretty and all with my angiodema even while on 60 mgs of PrednisoneSmiley Frustrated, but it is what it is.  And did I mention I can't wear any eye make-up....ugh.

We lost the really nice house yesterday so can't wait any longer.  Hi and Bye!
