Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Thread

[ Edited ]

I think I love the new vac.  Shark company is sensational at innovation.

The motor is in the head, as with most vacs, but so is the dust cup.  So it looks like a stick vac but performans like an upright.  Upside - it goes under things that other vacs can't get under. Downside - some will think the dust cup is too small and has to be emptied too often.  Not a problem for me, as I tend to do only one room at a time anyway.  It's plenty big for that.

Even though it weighs only 9 lbs., I thought it was still hard to push.  Even when I used the lower of two speeds.  Then I found the button that releases some of the suction.  It still picked up fine and was much easier to push.  I love that you can adjust both the speed at the brush turns as well as the amount of suction.

It has two brush heads, one for carpet and one for hard flooring, and an onboard caddy to store the brush you're not using.  Two upsides here.  The hard floor brush actually picks up litter off the hard floor instead of just blowing it around like every other vac does. Finally, a solution to a 20-year long problem.

Second upside - it's easy to access and remove the brush you've used.  After doing my carpet, I removed the brush and was amazed at how much gunk was wound around it.  I was pleased the vac gathered so much stuff and also pleased that the brush could be accessed and cleaned.

No attachments like crevice or a brush, but I'm OK with that.  All in all, although purchasing another vac is definitely a splurge, I think I'll be happy with this one.  Knowing full well they have another new model in 6 months and I'll want that, too.  LOL.  I collect vac like some people collect iphones.  At least my needless splurge is less expensive.

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Thread

Thanks to all of you I finally got myself out and went walking through the woods this morning in the brisk cold.  I walked about 8 miles.  Not as good as you guys but I loved it.  Thanks for the encouragement.  I'll be spending the rest of the day stretching.

Patty, best wishes for good news.  I remember the days of waitig for test results.  I hope it's good news.

And congratulations on the vacuum.  They did have Pound class last night.  Yay!  I didn't do the twisting though.  My back hurts the past week or so but only when I lie down in bed.  I think I pulled or aggravated a muscle or ligament.  Aging stinks!  Definitly time to pull it back at the gym and walk the woods.

Hope everyone's weekend is off to a great start!

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Thread

nomless...glad you're enjoying your new job.  They sound like good people to work for/with, and that makes all the differenece in the world!  I should get a new vacuum also, I'll keep that in mind.

Laura....8 miles, not bad...lol!  That's around what my gf's and I were doing this Summer/Fall, 8 to 10, depending upon the day so you're ahead of the game if that was your first time out in a while!

We didn't find anything we like...ugh.  It's exhausting, I think it was more mentally draining than anything...especially being let-down every time.  Not sure what we'll do. We found one place we like, it's right on the Potomac so the view is great but there are some cons to it, including the price.

Single digits here but they said on the news this morning that a few places could see close to -30* and not the windchill!

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!  We're heading out, going to check-out the gym here, the rooms sure are nice.

@Iluvlucy  Hope your search goes better today.  Still thinking about you in all areas.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday.  This may be a day off or I may go walking later today again.  Ice storm possible tomorrow so I may not be able to do my normal 5:30am Ride class.  We'll see.

Hi everyone and Happy Valentines Day to everyone here. Been reading here but just did not have any thing exciting to say. I am just so impressed with how you keep those bodies moving. Bopper have to tell you the pictures you put on here are just beautiful thank you. Nomless my sister,my daughter and I all bought that sweeper and my sister is the only one who has used hers. She just loves it and is so surprised how much it picks up. Let me just say we collect sweepers like you would think we were cleaning a hotel. Patty lord girl I wish there was something I or we could do to make all this heavy load your dealing with lighter for you. I think it is going to be hard for you to find a home that you really like there is just too much going on in your life right now. Between that precious son, your hubby and Lucy and you just don't think your heart is in the house hunting mode. Will tell you my sister deals with the night thing also. She actually gets out of her bed at night and throws the cover back and lets her bed get cold again then gets back into it. Me I don't ever remember having any of these problems even the flashes. Maybe just too old to remember but I seemed to breeze right through that part of my life but not this darn weight curse its here every day of my life since I was born. Guess sending prayers and good thoughts is the only thing I can do for you right now, but you sure do deserve some peace and contentment. Take care and will be asking for more special prayers for you and your family. We are supposed to warm up this week but not without rain sleet and snow but so far here in sw Pa. we have had a nice winter but I am sure we will have our moments. By the way Patty thank god you were not on the Pa. turnpike when the wreck happened and the people were stranded on the pike for 24 hours Our parish priest was one of  all those people they actually held a mass on the pike. I will say honestly if that would have happened to me I would have been beside my self there isn't a good enough excuse for what all those people had to go through for those 24 hours.

@SeaMaiden  I'm lucky to have a small park with paved and wooden trails right down the road.  It took me two hours total to walk around the lake and then I did the wood trails on both sides.  I love the forest and with the cool weather, it made it even more special to do something not a lot of people were out doing.  Although I wasn't the only one but it was nice to have some alone time in nature.  You don't even notice the time.

Supposed ice storm tonight so we'll see about the gym tomorrow.  I may be body gyming it instead.

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Thread

Happy Valentines Day everyone,  it was 10 below zero here this morning but the sun did come out.  We got into the teens this afternoon.  We didn't do much, watched The Red Wings play and just stuff around here.

My hubby got me a tablet I'm trying to figure out.  I wanted to FaceTime with my son but he said FaceTime is only for apple..I have no clue.  My phone is an apple and I have it on there but keep in mind my phone is tiny, an old old i phone4S so I wanted to use the tablet but can't figure it out.  It's a Trio Stealth G5 and when I try and go to an app store to upload the FaceTime or even Skype it is asking me for my google play name and password.  I don't have one, I don't use google as my browser so I m not sure what I'm doing.  I know i sound stupid, I just don't know if I create an acct if that cancels out my other accounts which I don't want to do.

Good job on the long walk Laura, around my parts you need the snow shoes.

Nomless glad the job is going good and you love your sweeper.  I have a Shark Rotator but it is heavy, not in love with it but it cleans alright.  I wish I had the lift away but I don't.

Patty hope you find something you like that isn't a fortune and doesn't need updating.  The location sounds really nice.

Cater hi and waving, nice to see you!

Not much else here...so have a wonderful rest of your night!

Re: Welcome to the February Exercise Thread

Bopper, if I could sit down with you, I could help you with your tablet.  Yes, Google Play Store requires that you create an account.  I use gmail sometimes, so I already had a Goolge account.  Google will ask you for credit card info, but you don't have t give them that.  I didn't.  That means I can download only free apps, but that's all I want.  Maybe your son can help you with your tablet?   I hope you love it.  I hardly ever use my computer, I do everything on a tablet. Oh, as far as I know, FaceTime works only on Apple devices.

Well, I don't know what went on, but I couldn't sign in and had to change my nickname!  I've had that nickname forever!  I probably should have called them but don't feel like messing with it.

Sitting here drinking coffee with the fireplace going and watching the snow fall.  That's supposed to change later today to sleet then rain...yuck.

cater, since I started those high-dose steroids I've had terrible hot flahses, way worse than what I was having for the menopause.  Sure hope it didn't trigger something in me that isn't going to change!  Laughed at your vacuums, I tend to do the same thing but haven't had the best luck lately.  I love vacuum cleaners.

bopper, I have the Apple Ipad but don't use it at all so can't help ya...dh set mine up anyway and he uses it now.  We can't face-time too often because the grandpups go crazy and one gets so upset, he keeps running to the windows and the door thinking we're there or coming and gets quite depressed when we're not.  I mean he gets so worked up, he has thrown up before.  Him very sensitive boy.

nomless, my gf uses hers ALL the time too, just loves it.  I use my laptop or my phone, never could get used to typing on the tablet..but only like going into things or typing on my laptop.

Laura, you should be done with class now!  I need to get out there and enjoy the snow before the yuck starts.  Did my morning chore routine and just enjoying being home right now.  Got groceries yesterday after we got home and we washed the new car in the cold but can't have all that muck and salt all over it.

I wonder if we'll hear about Lucy today...ugh...this is weighing heavily on my mind.  It was only 3 years ago we lost Zoe. This little one here is something else, it would be a HUGE void without her.  Can't go there but I have looked up the closest Vet Oncology centers by where we'll be moving...I guess PA would be the closest.  Which is another thing we thought of while house-hunting, don't want to go to the high-end if we have caner treatments to pay for(Zoe's were pretty high for a few months).  But it has to be her teeth, just wish the antibiotics would take the swelling in her nodes down.

Hope I didn't forget anyone.  I wonder if I'll have two nicknames now or this is it.  I'm curious to see which one pops up when I post...lol.   Okay, sun is coming up, we're out of here!
