Re: Welcome to the December Exercise Thread

Oh, I know you will be glad to your son and daughter-in-law @bopper.  Last year mine were here.  This year, she's in the first trimester of her first pregnancy and morning sickness with her constantly.  She's about 32.

I really enjoy looking at your pictures.

Re: Welcome to the December Exercise Thread

Great thread!  I recently had hand surgery. Still working out with modifications on weight machines at the gym. Using this as an opportunity to work lower body. My young pup gets me out for energetic walks!

Re: Welcome to the December Exercise Thread

Morning!  Welcome GymBunny!  I hope your hand heals quickly...sometimes having an injury can be beneficial to other body parts...lol!

My hip is killing me this morning...and yesterday I had a shin-splint from wearing Skechers too far so did TRX and my bike(a lot as I talked to my one gf that has the gift of gab..lol)...and 3 miles walking but gingered my splint.  I told my gf I wasn't going with her.  The day before that I did well over 15 miles as I went early with Lucy, my 1 gf in the a.m., then my other gf in the afternoon.

My dil is getting sick now too(DS has been sick all week)...so we don't know if they'll make it down or not.  If they can't, we'll drive up there.  I'll just pack the Manicotti, pies, cinnamon rolls, breakfast casserole, etc., in a cooler and head out.  DH really doesn't want 4+ hours of driving for his back though, especially since he just got serious with working out again after that ordeal.  He's actually at Physical Therapy right now.

I'm back on the steroids...ugh.  Not even going to get into that...but I need to get through the weekend and it was just going downhill.

Re: Welcome to the December Exercise Thread

@GymBunny, welcome! Thanks for posting. It's difficult to recover from surgery....Don't push yourself too hard. I hope you'll keep on posting....This is a nice, friendly thread.

Bopper, how. Ice that you DS and DIL will be visiting. I know you're happy about that!

Lucy, lots of good wishes for your DS and DIL. I hope both feel better very soon and that you don't need to change plans for Christmas. Your food sounds yummy!

Foxxie, yikes, 23 lbs of turkey is a lot! I love turkey. Once you have it cooked up and frozen for later, you'll  be glad to have it. A good base for lots of dishes.

Our temps warmed up a lot this week. I just got home!E from work and am relaxing with a cup of coffee...with a cat climbing all over me. He's happy only when I'm sitting quietly holding him, lol.

Re: Welcome to the December Exercise Thread

Hey all it was a most breath taking morning here with the fresh snow, like 6 inches fell and it was like a Christmas post card.  I grabbed the shoe shoes and headed out.  Was gone about an hour.

Thank you foxxie I enjoy posting the pictures, so pretty!   I hope you don't have turkey coma, that's a big bird!

Nomless sounds cozy a kitty and coffee!    We're in the 30's so thats a welcome temp here too.

gymbunny welcome and I hope your recovery goes off without a hitch.  Take it easy and don't over do it!

Iluvlucy sorry to hear DS and DIL have colds, I hope they can' get over them and enjoy the holiday.    If you travel be careful, I worry about black ice down by you.    Your manacoti sounds so good!   You got in lots of miles, very impressive and time sure goes faster when you  have someone to go with.

Hubby is on his way home so I better get his dinner going, I'm running behind today.  Talked to my other DIL for over an hour on the phone.

Have a great night!

Re: Welcome to the December Exercise Thread

Well welcome @GymBunny.  Sounds like your recovery is going along well and you're using your time well.  Does your user name tell us that you enjoy working out?  I don't care for it that much but I miss it when I don't do it.  I've exercised sporadically most f my adult life but I've been more consistent in the last eight months than I have in years.  When the body talks you have to listen.

I like coming to this thread and hearing what the other ladies her ladies are doing.  And they are definitely doing more than me, lol. But we know that we should only do what's good for us as individuals.  Take care everybody.

Re: Welcome to the December Exercise Thread

Up and at 'em this morning....and I got the you-know-what scared out of me.  DH was downstairs working out...I hear a loud crash and a yell.  The stupid TRX straps busted the door and pulled through and DH fell!  Scared me so bad...I ran downstairs so fast with my stomach in my throat.  He's okay, hit his head...I was worried about his back.  Never a dull moment here!  Yesterday was our 30th wedding anniversary....would love to see 31! Smiley Tongue

Got my regular chores done, now have a few other things to do before they get here...like make the breakfast casserole.  I gave Lucy a bath yesterday afternoon, trimmed her up, and put on a clean sweater.  Their two dogs are crazy...they make it a house-full!

Both my son and dil are feeling better...yay!  She was out delivering food last night to a family in need...she is always doing for others.  DS had a long day yesterday...had some emergencies so he got home late, then was on-call all night.  I told them to take their time today, no hurries.

I did a quick strength training here yesterday then walked with Beth then walked, ran, and hills with Angie.  Then we went to Sam's Club and Walmart...had a couple of errands to run.

Thinking a lot about those that aren't here anymore, I guess this time of year is good for that!  To those that celebrate, I hope you all have a Merry Christmas...to those that don't, have a wonderful weekend!

I need to text DS right now to remind him to bring all of his medicines....because it just makes me feel better to do so. Smiley Wink

Re: Welcome to the December Exercise Thread

Lucy, I'm so glad the kids are better and will be able to visit. Have a wonderful Christmas.

Bummer about the TRX straps. Glad DH is OK. Guess you'll have to figure out a different means of installation.

I saw an ad for BeachBody about their streaming subscription program which gives access to all the workouts. Could be a good deal for those with smart TVs who like the BB workouts.  But not me....My TV isn't smart and I don't want BB to have my CC info.

I lost another half pound this week due to my job, lol. Happy about that.

Re: Welcome to the December Exercise Thread

Oh my, @Iluvlucy, I'm so glad that your husband is alright.  Freak accidents can be the worst.  I can just imagine me running to see what happened.  It would look funny since my knees are not the best.  More like a quick hobble.

@nomless, we do have a smart tv but can't use it.  Hubby impulsively ordered it this summer from HSN or QVC, played with it a couple of times and gave up.  I kept reminding him that his 30 days for returning was disappearing but.....  I don't know if it was a lemon or he just couldn't get the connection right.

Tuesday I tried to make Christmas reservations for dinner.  Too late, so I made them for Christmas Eve.  Better than nothing.  On January 1st, back to normal eating routine.  Yesterday I made a banana cream pie.  I only ate a sliver but still, it definitely wasn't low cal, lol.  Too sweet for my new taste buds.

Well everyone enjoy the day and please be careful!

Re: Welcome to the December Exercise Thread

Good Morning, just starting to get light here, so late but we are starting to get longer days once again it just takes a while to get here!

I have food to make also but its the kind that you can't do until last minute or things get soggy.  DS and DIL will arrive here about 5.  Not sure what the plan is, they are staying at a hotel as we don't have room, we have a very small home and only twin beds in the extra room.  They may be tired and just want to chill in the hotel and I understand that too.

foxxie I 'm glad you enjoy coming here, it's cool to hear about all the different workouts available to us and then pick and chose what suits us best.

Nomless yay on the weightloss!    I wouldn't give BB my CC info either and I don't have a Smart TV..I hadn't heard about this though.

Iluvlucy I'm really glad DH didn't hurt himself, that could have gone the other direction for sure and I bet it really scared him.   Glad the kids are better and able to come down.  i hope they take their time, there is no rush what so ever!

It's quiet here right now, very still out.

Have a wonderful Day.  Find the Peace inside you and bring it to someone else!
