Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

@elated, it's nice to meet you.  Thanks for posting.  Yes, for sure, sometimes I get tired and need to take a day or two off. Especially when it's so hot. It's even hot inside. Enjoy your day off, knowing you'll get back to your routine soon.  Be sure to drink lots of water. Sometimes I realize I've lost energy because I need more water.  Let us know how it goes, but be careful outside in the heat.  It's crazy hot here, too.

Cardio done.  I did a longer session to make up for yesterday's short one.

Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

Hey all, another warm one here up North too.  Pushing 90 again.  Many days this month pushing 90, I"ll remember when I"m shoveling 2 feet of snow.

I walked on the treadmill this morning, too muggy outside.  I also had a mammogram appt at 1 and everything is good , thank you God!  My sister had breast cancer and mom died of Oviarian cancer so I am at risk.   But I go every year almost to the date to get my mam.  Have you ladies scheduled yours!!!

I'm enjoying watching HWJ right now.   My favorite time of year is Fall, much more than Christmas even...Can't wait to put out my stuff but I am not rushing the season either.  Winter is 7 months long here.

Enjoy the evening everyone!

I  have been exercising daily but this week I am so tired I find it difficult to get moving. I cleaned house on Monday for a couple hours so I considered that as exercising. Tuesday, I had a hair appointment and did not work out. This morning I got up and was so tired that I did not do my walking. It has been hot outside and I am exhausted by the time I get back. I usually walk 2-3 miles a day. I will start walking again the rest of the week. Do any of you get tired and just need to rest a day or two before you start exercising again?

@elated  Yes and it's important to back off when you need to.  I am at the gym just about every other day.  I take rest days because they are important to let yourself heal and your muscles recover and get stronger.

The whole point of exercise is to break down your muscle and then do nothing so the muscle can repair and build up stronger.  It's no fun being injured or wearing yourself out and all kinds of exercise like housework etc all count.

I think walking is the best exercise of all.  I normally do several miles in a nearby park on weekends but this heat is a bit much right now so I'm taking care of myself, listening to my body and working out indoors instead.

Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

Hi everyone!  Almost to the end of another week.

Hi CandleQueen and welcome Elated!  Yes, for sure Elated, we all need breaks.  I'm having trouble trying to find a schedule at my new gym that works for me.  I don't mind cardio every day but you can't do weights everyday or work the same muscles like Laura said...and it's posing a bit of a problem trying to make it all fit without working the same muscles back-to-back. Going to have to lift on my own I think so I'm more in control of my schedule.  They sure love lunges and tri-cep push-ups at this gym...almost every class!

nomless....did you find your brushes?  LOL!  That about makes my head spin off when I do something like that!

MickD, bopper, Laura, and Judy....waving...hope I didn't leave anyone out.

I did my favorite class today...Body Attack...and lifted legs on my own(some before and some after to see which I think is the better option and I think after will work better).  I think PUMP is too slow for me anyway but I love the ladies in the class so I'm torn...my ADD kicks in and I get bored plus I prefer separating upper and lower.  I LOVE Body ATTACK, by far my favorite class, wish they offered it more often.

We are finally having some beautiful weather...in the 80's!!  I walked Lucy this morning before the gym and could have kept on going.  Still had to carry her, she is not a summer gal at all.

Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

Hi everyone!  I usually try working out MWF @elated but yesterday I had such a bad sinus headache I thought I was gonna fall over let alone workout!  Did 2.5 mi run on the treadmill.  Don't know if I'll go tomorrow as our hot water heater may be replaced and it's in the workout garage.  We have been without hot water since Saturday....not fun.

Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

Hey all,  I don't have much to report today, I own it.  I had breakfast with 2 of my dearest childhood friends who were here for a funeral.  They are sisters and we grew up on the same block, went all through school together and have remained good friends.  We've been through a lot together and even though we don't see each other often nor communicate through email we seem to pick up where we left off.

It's super hot here too, another 90 plus day, and I really dislike it, and so humid. I'm trying to get out there before the middle of the day but today I didn't.

Candlequeen you do have a good plan going.  I like my Xbike and it sits right in front of my TV and I hope on and off all day long.

Nomless funny how things disappear just when you need them.  I need to go through my makeup drawer, I can' organize it and in a month you'd never know I had done it.

elated hi, glad your joining us here.  I think we all have those days.  I do, myself.  I love to walk too and do try to do it everyday but like today I didn't and now it's 92 and I'm not doing it.  Although I do have a treadmill so see, I'm copping out because I didn't do that either but I admit it.  I think its okay to take a day sometimes to regroup.

They  keep saying rain here and we are so dry my grass is crispy but nothing develops.  I hope we get some today.

Enjoy your day everyone, stay cool!

Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

@Iluvlucy  I used to love kickboxing.  I haven't done it in forever.  You almost make me want to go to Group Kick on Saturday just to revisit it.

@MickD  No hot water for almost a week?  I would die.  If I can't have a hot bath, I'm not human.  Great job on the run!

@bopper  How nice you caught up with your friends.  It sounds like you all had a lovely time.   I know what you mean about rain.  It finally did this morning and I had to stop and recognize what exactly I was looking at again.  Don't think it did much but it was nice to see it again.

@nomless  I second the lost brushes prayer.

I did my Power and Ride today.  Pound really kicked my abs on Tuesday but I still really don't like the class anymore.  I'm not sure if I'm going to do it again or switch back to Ride in the morning.  I'm half tempted to do the long class tomorrow after work and make a final call.  We'll see.

I'm loving getting back to cooking again and I am about back to my pre-vacation self.  It feels good. I also was able to do most of my normal lift weights in Power this week so I'm gettting excited all over the place.  @JudyL, there's hope!  My shoulder is still sore so no bar for squats and lunges but Ride is taking care of those muscles so I'm not sweating it.

Almost Friday!

Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

No, my brushes haven't turned up, lol.  It's a good thing I don't need them.

Cardio done but I cut it short because the workout room was crazy busy.

Bopper, how nice you saw your friends.  I'm sorry the reason was a sad one.

Laura, good for you getting back in gear. You're doing great.

Lucy, your class sounds fun...hard, but fun.

Hi, Mick and others I'm forgetting.

I'm having dinner with a friend tonight.  Will have to catch Battlebots On Demand.  She thinks I'm crazy for watching Battlebots, but I love it, lol.

Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

Happy Friday!

Laura...ATTACK isn't kickboxing, it's like a high-intensity cardio HIIT but you don't take the rest breaks...lots of running, jumping, burpees...very fast...a lot of fun.  Today is COMBAT which is the kickboxing.  I may go tomorrow morning too but they said Saturday's are really crowded.

I wanted to do PUMP and COMBAT but they aren't back-to-back!  Grrrrr.  Not sure what to do.  There isn't a SPIN class that works with it either.  I'll figure it out.

MickD...do you have hot water?

bopper...glad you got to see your friends.

nomless...there is a hair-pick(my favorite one) that drives me nuts thinking about what happened to it to this day.  Of course I blame DH...he must have thrown it out.  I remember I had a gf from WI ivisiting, we went out sight-seeing and he decided to clean the bathroom for me...next thing I know my pick was missing.  I had that pick for years....since high-school.  They don't make them anymore so I was not happy.

Hope everyone has a great day!
