Well, I'm not in the category as the others because it takes me 18-20 minutes to walk a mile. I have arthritis in my knee and walking aggravates it. However, I do an elipitcal and bike at the gym in addition to the treadmill. On the days I don't go to thy gym I find alternate ways to exercise.

Me, Too!! 32 years!!
Saw a woman at the gym this morning that I usually see and said good morning and she said "you work hard" and I said "so do you" and I said, "some mornings are a lot harder than others, no matter how long I've been doing this" and she said, "yeah, but we're still here!"
Yeah.

Definitely agree with Wink - my power walking is just one component of my exercise routine. I do (heavy) weight training & other cardio, also.

Sunday is kind of a lazy day for me and my long walk is more recovery than anything else.

I'm enjoying the comments. Thanks, Orange, for posting this.
I do various exercises each day, including gym and cycling, but walking treadmill or paths is my favorite. I've been walking a mile - 20-30 mins - at lunch break and it just makes the afternoon so much better.
Keep moving!

I used to walk about 4 miles 5X/week, but now at 66 two knee replacements and arthritis in my ankles keep me from that routine. Instead, I go to an indoor, heated pool several days a week and swim, do water exercise, and walk laps there. I really enjoy water exercise and the good friends I've made there. It's a social occasion as well as a physical workout. And being in the water always makes me feel renewed and relaxed. Sort of a therapy session!

I do the same as kahootz.....except my dog does not like to walk in the rain. Any other type of weather is fine. I always say that we walk 6.5 days out of 7, with about 4 or 5 different routes, with each walk about 30 to 45 minutes. Since we do "fast walking", this post has me thinking. I'm going to have to see exactly how many miles we walk. I'm guessing at least a mile, if not more, every 15 minutes.
brewhaha, funny post. Am guessing that you relax and take it easy on the federal holidays.

I do an hour of brisk walking every day that the weather cooperates ( and I can take a lot of inclement weather, until we get to the ice ! ). I love walking, nature's most perfect exercise.
Also have an exercise room at home filled with equipment that I use in various rotations.
When people say they hate to exercise, I just go
ETA, I will be 66 in March and have felt this way about vigorous exercise since I was a little girl.

I walk my dog about 2 hours a day. We walk for 1 hour in the morning and about 1 hour in the evening. He also gets a short walk before bed time.
