Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

Hello everyone, well Christmas is over so time for Spring, I'm ready haha

This morning I was back on the bike for a 30 minute spin, and then a little on the Pilates chair.

Feeling a little better today, but my winter asthma is bothering me.  I hope going to CO will help that.  I know the air is dry but it's warmer than here.

@JudyL I'm glad you had a nice Christmas but am sorry that need is bothering you now.  Sounds like a good day to find something to watch on TV or read.  We're getting milder air right now, even some drizzle which isn't nice.

I got my suitcase out, starting to  put in a little just so I don't forget anything.   I really am not a good packer or traveler.  I want to go home before we even leave LOL!!

Have a good Thursday!   Football tonight!

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

The hike was a challenge for me. Mainly because my left leg gets closer to needing a hip replacement too. I am trying to hold off as long as possible.. In my hike yesterday we had to forage a small river bed with some bigger boulders and my leg just wasn't flexible enough. BUT, it was so grand to be back on the ranch hiking even  with my limitations. I had almost said no to going, but glad I did. Am I sore today.. heck, yes.

The ranch was saved last summer from a big  fire and and the surrounding many 100 of acres is burned.. We could see vegetation coming back , but it'll be years before It's even close to being what it was. This ranch butts up to a national forest and it has the best hiking...  Some of it flat and some very mountainous. One of my friends worked there for 15 years and has persmission to hike on the property. Lucky me to  go with her and her partner.

We were gone almost 3 hours. We did see the sun rise- but mostly it was a cloudy day.

Xmas dinner was good- I grilled steaks and the trimmings to go with that.

My one son came and spent the day..

@JudyL  Hope your knee is better today..  Sometimes we do too much without much thought and then pay for it another time. Sort of like me today.

I know what it takes to have a hip replacement ( my rt. one was Feb 2024.) I should just get it all set up and get  other one done. We humans can procrastinate.

@bopper  I am not a good packer either and always figure if I forget something I can buy it there. I do hope  CO can give you  good vacation- at least weather- wise..

Think it's time for me to put my feet up and do some reading- I went to the rec center at 5am this morning and then took a walk later on..  Enough for today.

Yes, Thurs. night football - I would think the Seahawks should win.. The Bears just have so much wrong with their organization. We'll probably watch a little of it.

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

Happy Friday!  Boy it's dark here!   Even at 9am it was dark.   I got groceries at Walmart and came right home.

I jogged 30 minutes on the treadmill, and I am slow, but don't care.  I used to care, but not anymore.

@violet runner it sounds like the hike was well worth the leg, and what a great workout, the scenery and just being out there, thats pretty priceless in my opinion.   I keep checking the weather, looks like upper 40's but if sun is out I'm okay.   Trying to find things to do with the littles.  Well they will have school so that helps a lot.  It's mostly from 3 pm - 8 pm we have to entertain them.

I want to bring my own pillow and that's a bit of a problem, takes up so much room in the luggage.   I do have one of those vacuum bags but then when we leave I hate asking my son to use his vacuum to put it back in, he already thinks I'm too "needy" so heaven forbid I ask.  I'm not telling him I have my own pillow, they would both have attitude about it.  I told my husband we need to start looking " older" maybe they would treat us better.  We have aches and pains!

Any who, have a good night!

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

Hi Everyone.  Today I did some light housework and then took my walk to the end of the street and back.  Other than that, had a quiet day.

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

@bopper  Are you vacationing here in CO? Or family visit? Or both?   I don't think it's needy to want your own pillow. When I drive somewhere, I always take mine. Plus you are there for a good week. Watching over litte ones- we sure need to have a good sleep!! Still telling Mother Nature to give you some nice weather when you are here.

Not sure how much exercise I'll get today.. My GS is back from visiting his Mom's family in OR- so we are having the last xmas gathering this morning and exchanging gifts. Then it's Colorado Universtiy playing in the Alamo Bowl and the Broncos play  the Bucanneers- so 2 games I want to see..

Have a good Sat.. @JudyL  Keep working that knee!

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

Hi Everyone!  Well it's gloomy again, drizzling out, and if I didn't know the month I'd say late March.  The rain has taken the snow down, and we see grass areas.  But that is changing next week as the forecast says.

Today I did 45 minutes on the bike and a 10 minute arm with light weights.

@violet runner its not vacation it's more babysitting our grand boys.   My son and his wife are going on a short vacation and we have the boys to watch.  They are a handful!  Thank God they will have school.   I'm going to be in Arvada, where are you?   I'm hoping while they are in school to take some nice walks on the side walks around their house.  I have learned not to get lost on the sidewalks near by.  I fear getting lost all the time.  Even when I put in my address in maps it says I don't have something right in my contacts and I can't figure it out.   I know stupid but my anxiety kicks in then.   We're going to the Botanical Gardens next Friday night with the littles and my son and DIL will be back then.  I went once back in 2019 I think it was.  Denver Broncos are on now

@JudyL  rest up, so you can start back in when you are ready!

I can't belive the day here is almost gone.   Why am I sleeping so late.  Today was 10 am, and then I don't fall asleep until after midnight.  I read that the older you get the earlier you go to bed and the earlier you get up.  Haha I knew I never fit the mold!!

See ya tomorrow!

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

@bopper  We'll be about 30 miles apart when you come to CO.. But lots of traffic inbetween.  HA!

My GS has no school until Tues, Jan 7th. I guess the 6th is an inservice day for teachers. I may be watching him that day.

When I am out walking alone- I don't venture into unfamiliar areas so I understand how you feel. I  live in Longmont- 15 mi from Boulder and a straight shot up to Estes Park- enterance into  Rocky Mt Nat Park- Perhaps a little more rural than Arvada. But we're growing ( too fast).  And too expensive..

Xmas offically over..  Our family met up yesterday..

Now to look to  2025.. I got a short walk in.. not nearly enough.

This morning I am going to get more into nature.. and then meeting a friend for coffee .

I need to drown my sorrows over the Bronco lost yesterday.. We had opportunity and blew it.  And our path to get into the playoffs is playing KC next week for the final game of the season.. It's a home game- so you'll be here for it!

CU  and CSU both lost in their bowl games.. We had bad ju ju for our CO teams yesterday..

You can root for the Packers today.. hoping they beat the Vikings who are right behind the Lions.. 3 good teams in one division. Plan on watching that game.

Enjoy your day-  it was so windy here yesterday.. hope that has died down..

Ok- sipping my coffee and hope to get my day going soon.

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

Hi everyone, another gloomy day here!   Yes @violet runner the Bronco's did blow it!   You know we NEVER cheer for the Cheese Heads but we may have to today Haha!!!   You are a ways from Arvada then but to be near the parks and trails, would be wonderful.  I'm such a freak about getting lost, even trying to navigate in the car there I keep asking my husband if we are lost.  You have me thinking now, I wonder if our grandsons don't have school until the 7th.

They live close to an Amazon wearhouse so I think I"m ordering my pillow and having it delivered to their door.  It said 1 day delivery.

No plans today other than football.  I did 90 minutes worth of exercise yesterday so I think I can slug it out today haha

Guess I should get out of my jammies, since it's 11:30 Bahhhhhhhh

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

@bopper  Only reason my GS has the 6th off is an inservice day for teachers.. nightmare for working parents.. They already have had the kids home for a few weeks.!! Time to go learn, kids!

Great idea to have a pillow shipped to your son's place.

And GB almost beat the Vikings. It ended up being a good game. You can clearly see the better teams now rising to the top.. Could be some good playoff games.

I have a derm appt this morning and then meeting a friend. My derm place is a mile away so may walk there and then meet my friend at a coffee shop near by.

My last medical appt of the year.. and it's all on me- I want him to freeze some spots on my face ( from aging)  It will be considered cosmetic so will pay most out of pocket. I try to think I am not vain and yet I hate these benign spots.. Hopefully it all goes smoothly.

 Enjoy your day ..
