Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

Friday and my morning  workout is done. It's so quiet at my gym at 5am.One reason I go at the time.Masks are mandated in our county and people at that hour are compliant wearing them. I am not saying its easy to work out with a mask- it's not. But I do it for others as well as myself..  Today its both weight room and cardio.. I usally stay about 90 min.

It's still mild here and I plan on biking later after I get a few things done.

  Enjoy the day..

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

@bopper Just did that Dec. Upper body...good one! Different positions I'd never tried before with the arms straps that added a challenge both to arms and engaged the core more. Thanks!

Also did my Classical Stretch early morning to wake my body up.

Doing stationary bike 30 minutes now and walking outdoors later with a friend.

Happy Friday, all!

@amyb  I have done the Classic Stretch you mention.. But with a chair- only because I did it while on my computer... I know, rather a lazy appriach to it. I  hike alot  and carry a backpack- I think her shoulder stretches helped me with that. Plus easy to find her on UTube!

@violet runner Yes, I too have seen she's on YT, which is great so we can do some of her stretches anytime. I've just gotten in the habit...I'm an early riser...have my first cup of tea, then turn her on and do either the whole thing or sometimes just 10 minutes...enough to get the body moving, blood flowing, open up morning stretches to loosen up first thing. I find her movements so effective, while being basic and simple...good combo of stretch, strength and a little cardio bursts sometimes. Nothing to replace an actual cardio workout, just that my pulse does go up during some of it, which is always a plus!

She mentions using a chair, often, and if you need to for balance, absolutely can still benefit from it. Safety first, always.

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

I forgot to check in!!  I have my dance lesson today and tomorrow I'm teaching LaBlast, so plenty of exercise.

Went to WM this morning to pick up a few things--mostly road trip snax and drinks and dog food-treats.  It actually wasn't too crowded.  I try to get my last shopping trip of the year in before Christmas.  I've only got 3 Saturdays left before I leave on my road trip.  I'm going to document the dogs' reactions and call it "Kevin and Lexi's Big Adventure".

I wrapped some gifts today and when I saw "wrapped", I mean put them in a bag and tie it with a ribbon.  It's not as lazy as the ones they sell here, which don't require you to cut a piece of ribbon--LOL!!!

Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

Happy Friday!   A semi rest day today.  I did light rebounding and my Pilates December challenge with the bonus move.

@amyb so glad you are liking my challenge.    I'm new at all this so just trying to do m best to help others.

We're getting snow on Sunday maybe 8 inches!!

@DrKelli my dog isn't great in the car.  He never lays down, and I mean NEVER, stands the entire time...it stresses me out.  I would take him with me more if he would relax in the car.

Time for jammies and TV....sure does get dark early!

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

One of two walks done so far today.  Cold to start, but warmed up as I went along.

I am only venturing out today to look for wreath for my front door and meeting a few friends for coffee.

Have been wanting to mention- I bought the egg weights  and have been using them when walking for the last  few weeks. I love holding on to them and can say I can wear a thin glove with them too. I used to carry weights when I walked and let that slip over the years.. These do feel good in the hand like they say.

I know, I know, exercise equipment is  only good if we use it ... and I  trying to make this a habit.   Guess you use these when doing yoga too.

I am giving a set to my friend for her bday.

Have a wonderful Sat... whatever you are doing.

And @Laura14  feel better!!

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

Happy Saturday,

It's starting to storm here, tomorrow is supposed to get bad.

I did a Kaleigh Cohen Spin for 30 minutes, it was a all sit down ride and since I don't have a spin bike I just used my Proform Stationery bike and it worked fine.   Then did her 30 minute Full Total Body weight workout.   I like it a lot although I sure wish I had all the different size weights she has.  I fumble around trying to hold 2 in 1 hand.  Good think I have "Man" hands LOL.   Ended with some foam rolling.

I just made cinnamon apple granola.  It smells mighty fine in here.

@Laura I am so sorry you are feeling crappy!

@violet runner I almost bought the egg weights.  How many pounds each are yours.  I also am looking at Toney Bands.  They go on the wrist but am thinking you can't wear your watch then.

Hallmark for me today.... Glad my workout is done.

Stay safe everyone and Hope you all feel better who are ailing.

Re: WELCOME TO THE DECEMBER EXERCISE THREAD

@bopper  I have the 1.5 pound each egg weights.. Funny, in the box, they seem heavy. In my hands- just right for walking.  Any heavier and I think it would be hard to do  the walking.. I do biceps and triceps, out in front of me,  wrist action etc with them  and can maintain my cadence walking. Just walking with them increases my heart rate.

As we( me)overthink things, I did wonder  what if I tripped? Natural reaction is to put our hands out.   Would they be a problem. Maybe.   Haven't had to deal  yet.. but when I was using  other hand weights it wasn't an issue.

I ventured out into the madness that is  pre xmas weekends..  I  didn't do half what I set out to do.. Couldn't take the crowds.. Now going to head out for another walk... much more peaceful.

Tomorrow is  hiking.  Every Sunday with a couple of friends. At sunrise. It's a wonderful thing.
